That is pretty much the time my instructor said it would take since he is also doing my team training part. We hit the road tomorrow to start training after taking some home time after I passed my CDL test.

I obviously couldn't read through 350 pages to find this... The first answer was that everyone makes it through orientation, but this thread is also a few years old...

Just to have it clarified, I work full time now, and I'm still going to have expenses that HAVE TO be paid every month. I've had trouble with jobs in the past, and 2 jobs on my application, I was fired from. If I'm accepted into the orientation, assuming that no matter what, I'm not quitting, is there still a good chance that I'm just going to be sent home unemployed, or is the job pretty much yours long as you're not an idiot?

From what I have read/assume... if you don't lie about anything on your application, can pass a DOT physical, don't drink while at orientation, pass your permit tests (unless you get it first), and aren't an idiot you will succeed.

The stupid get weeded out pretty quickly. You know, like the ones who think that they can cheat a drug test. (We had a couple get retested; they disappeared right afterwards.) No alcohol means no alcohol; that includes a beer with dinner at Applebee's. These people have seen every trick there is, repeatedly, and WILL catch you.

I was fired from a job several years ago. I listed it, as instructed. They asked for the one line explanation of why I was fired, and that was it; matter closed. Be open and honest with them. They will overlook a ton of crap, as long as they first hear about it from YOU, not your old boss (who they DO call), police report, or DMV report.

The best way to go about it is to talk to your recruiter, and make sure that anything you are concerned will disqualify you is on your initial application. If you're going to be rejected, better to find out BEFORE you make two bus rides (the second one at your expense).

example; there was a guy in my orientation group who was in a certain type of prescribed meds. He was up front and honest about it and it took prime until Friday to decide if it was going to be problematic. Because of his honesty they let him stay one last night at the campus inn instead of (very quickly) unceremoniously kicking him to the curb. It was sad to say the least because he was a nice person. It was also sad to see him getting a shuttle ride to the dirty dog station when most everyone else was leaving out with Their instructors.
