Freaky cool... I am sitting here this morning at a TS 1.5 miles from the shipper. I start plugging the route into my GPS, fuel stops etc and lo and behold, the miles to destination it is giving me is identical to the QC... the deadhead miles were less by 2, except for the 1.5 I still have to go, so bottom line, this one is accurate with in 2 miles on a 1200 mile run.

Pulled into Laramie at 0400 this morning after doing a split. I was beat and it was all I could do to do my PTI and throw myself into the bunk. At 0930 I get this knock on my door. Poke my head out the curtain and glare at the driver circling around my truck as I crack the window. " Hi I am your repower" My response...."Hmmm thats news to me" Gotta love those surprise repowers....LOL Came out on top on this one though, headed to Sacramento now instead of Los Angeles. Its a great day and the repower gods are smiling upon me. Now if I could just get back to sleep.

    Yes... Good, Bad and Both.

Usually necessitated to get a load delivered on Time... it is a crap shoot sometimes what you end up with. I kind of got shafted on the one In did, big I did not have enough hours to deliver it. I switched with a team and lost about 400 miles on the deal, but that is what happens sometimes. But both loads were delivered on time. I got shifted by the follow up load. 4 days for 1200 miles... way too much time, but In had run very hard the two weeks prior so the break is in a way a good thing. Just have to keep things in perspective.

I think most readers of this forum would be outright shocked at how many drivers get 10-15 miles from a shipper/receiver and just don't get up and head in on time. We have taken to QCing and calling drivers to be sure they are alert and awake. Of our calls, more than 2/3 are received with comments like, "Oh..I didn't realize it was time.."
In this day of increased competition, it's paramount that we do everything to ensure our taking care of the customer, without which, none of us have jobs.
A simple way to avoid this call would be to send a QC message just before retiring: "OK for OTD". I don't guarantee that will work everytime, but it should most.
The person responsible for an account (at night) such as Tyson, IBP or Smithfield will print out a list of every load scheduled to deliver by noon the next day. Then they contact each driver and cross off that truck from the list. If, when they bring up that truck on the screen, see the OK for OTD, they'll cross it off and not directly contact you.

truly a sad commentary on today's work ethic, that the office staff have to babysit, be the mother and father, alarm clock, to get the job done.

Milissa's in LA sucks... 7 hours, 2 pallets. And dude put a 4 foot tall stack next to a 10 inch tall stack, with a 3 footer in next, and looked surprised and annoyed when I told him to pull the short stack out and put the taller one there instead. Lazy ###... I don't need a toppled load. I have no patience for that nonsense.
