Suppport Thread for the TND 500, TND 700 or future Rand McNally products.

I had it set to "prefer freeways". But even changing to "allow all", it avoids 395. Here's the thing: the trailer height is set for 14', which it usually is. I reset the trailer height to 13.5 and now it all works. On I-90 at , I believe Exit 226 in WA, I'll get a warning that the bridge height is allegedly less than 14. The 1st time I encountered this, I simply got off and back on the exit- while other trailers went whizzing thru. This low overpass, btw, is not listed in the 2013 atlas. And so because of this allegedly low overpass, the 720 wants to route me an extra 800 miles? Sigh.....

 

No I hadn't mentioned it because I'd forgotten about it. But after I changed to "allow all", it routed me thru Seattle- the long way- and then I noticed it routed around a section of I90 on either side of Ritzville- which is where 395 joins I90.

 

Stupid question...I keep forgetting to ask....what is the "trails" tab for? I've tried to figure out what that is about but I've no idea. It didn't come on my 510 originally....it showed up after an update a while back. I've just not been able to figure out what it is or how to use it.

I thought maybe it was a way to log how you prefer to go certain routes but.....

 

Use it to "follow" a route that you are on. And then you can create a route to go back and do the same thing over again quickly. I started to use it for my trip back from Phoenix to MN. then decided to just delete the trail and not use it at all.

 

ive had my own issues like this. I simply yell back at the gps "NO!!" then laugh I always map-check my route before i leave anyway. ill type it in the gps...then zoom in on the route...looking to see if the route makes sense. then ill jot down any changes im making...and just try to remember to make them when the time comes i use TND 510 seems to be working decent so far

 

Mile Markers I69 IN.
Are waaaaaay off.
Guessing it's due to them (IN) extending I69 in the Southern part.

 

Since this just happened a couple of months ago l'm guessing the new mile markers won't be in this years database

I know this from experience of having to INVENTORY road signs for MN DOT.

Mile marker signs are notorious for being WAY off. Some as much as 2 1/2 miles. We would run a foot meter in a pick-up and then catalog WHERE on a road a sign was. I have seen as much as 12,000 feet to as few as 3500 feet between mile markers. A statute mile is 5280 feet. One guy in the team had a distance of 16,000 feet. How the surveyors determined their location still remains a mystery.

So unless you are seeing like 169 where it's showing MM 260 where they totally redid a section of road and converted it to the Interstate,


So what does that mean? Minnesota has stopped calling them mile markers and started to call them reference markers. Gives you an idea where you might be, but not actual mileage.
