Was running on that US-63 in AR... up and down, up and down... kinda very heavy... when I noticed some smoke coming out of my drives on both sides... :biggrin_2554: Immediately I found a large shoulder to park (there was no ramp or anything) and took a "mandatory" 30 min break to let my brake shoes cool down. Threw some water on them... the poor things were sizzling... ssssssssss......

Now parked at this place... Kinda Rocks place... It's a small Shell station on a US road in AL. No real parking lot but found a corner... There's only one other truck here now.

There's a Budget Inn on top of the hill right next to it... I could use a shower... But nahhh... :biggrin_25512:

Be careful with those brakes, Rocks. They can develop cracks in them that you can't see from the outside. It would be a very good idea to have them taken off and inspected by a shop asap. Better safe than sorry. Cooling them down as quickly as possible ( which you did ) is great but the damage might already be done. They should be fine to drive with but don't put off an in depth inspection too long.

Hey HeWho... Thanks A LOT! :yes2557: I took a good look at them... and they seemed ok.... They are brand new as this truck is only 50 thousand so miles old... But I will be going to main terminal this week or beginning of next and will have the shop check them. :biggrin_25519:

Outside Underwood Iowa heading to Philadelphia trying to figure out a route to avoid all the dang tolls. Does anyone know how much 476 cost in tolls if I take 80?

TA PETE, I'll keep ya' in mind. I don't know where I'll be headed once I deliver in KCMO this morning. It's been a while since I've had to go near Hutch. Most of the time it's been back and forth across US56, and I70, I335.

Don't bother w/476--easiest way is 80east--to322 east to 81n-83s-283s then east(follow sings)then 30east-202north to 76 east--sounds confusing but it really isn't--one word of warning if you haven't been that way--there is a hill just east of stat college PA--w/a manadatory stop at top--and then a 15mph limit all the way down---DO NOT--miss mandatory stop--and although people(locals esp)will argue this--keep it under 20mph--it isnt a bad hill--actually the speed limit is leftover ffrom when it was a 2lane that went right thru town--So many just iggy limit--BUT--fines are BRUTAL if they are working it that day....if you need more info on how to run this route--PM--me so we don't tie up too much--thread....
    BTW--where/what part of Philly?
Soorry just reread ur post--u said all tolls--lol--
So--run 80--into Indiana--stay straight when 80 cuts off to In tollroad(becomes 94)stay on 94 to the 3d exit(#20 I thinK)In 49--go south about 5 miles to us 30--take 30 east--all the way to I-71in Oh--then N on 71 to I76--take 76 east and it will turn into I80 just outside Youngstown--You will have the one toll where 80 and 294 runtogether in IL--but that one is really too much of a pain to get around--u can do it if u want--but really aint worth the local chi town area traffic to do it...
    O yeah Im home--LOL
