YRC is Teamster wall to wall. The only other union at YRC is the Machinists at only a few shops and they only cover mechanics.

Hook a set and drive down the freeway is probably the lowest aggravation and best paying job in the trucking industry. The big catch of course is that it's night work. And you might be throwing iron if your turn has a mountain range to cross.road_runner Thanks this. -

Hey ACH1130, I notice a lot of YRC run sleepers. Do you guys do a lot of team? I thought ya'll ran the same way as Reddaway and just shuttled trailers back and forth between terminals/turn-points? Just curious.

I know we run teams out of NV, Chicago and Dallas. They usually go to other hubs or distribution centers. There is another driver on the forum who Im good friends with who runs teams. He says theres a ton of money in that. The NV terminal runs teams with triples up to Oregon. We have a few YRC Reimer sleeper tractors in our fleet in our yard. We only use them for going into Canada. I drove one once from a hub back to my terminal because we were short on them. They are autos too.

I always see them coming through Montana on I-90. Come to think of it, every time I pass the terminal in Butte I only see daycabs. I never see the sleepers pull triples though. Might be cause they are coming from Washington where triples and Rocky Mt doubles are illegal. It is a huge pain for all of us. We have a drop yard near the border on the Idaho side (Post Falls) where we have to drop our trailers if they don't meet WA laws. It's a bit of a hassle cause the dispatcher out of Spokane has to send people back to the Idaho side to pick up what we couldnt get past the WA Weigh Station.

Our new sleepers are White Cascadis, and our triples sleepers are volvos. We cant have triples in NY but we can have rocky doubles and turnpike doubles on our NY thruway. Im surprised they dont allow triples on it. those turnpike doubles are double 48s so thats almost a 100 feet back. Well whatever, I probly wouldnt do triples, only a penny more LOL. Turnpike Or rockys I wouldnt mind trying. I know Radman on here pulls a rocky mountain.
WHen we go into Burlington, VT, we have 2 ways we take. IF we got just a single pup or a van they have you take all these backroads, about a 100 miles of them, majority of 2 lane highways. They allow doubles on them. If we got a set we take stay on the main Highway in NY almost to Plattsburgh. then take the whole truck on a ferry to cross into VT. The backroads is 248 miles each way and is longer. The ferry is 265 miles but can go faster, even with the ferry, its only a 30 min ride -
triples sleeper, and a Reimer Tractor we use for Canada runs... NO we still use a hotel, not the truck

Some nice scenery on those back roads into Burlington and the looks ya get from people while pulling a set onto the ferry is priceless.
