Yeah I'm trying to avoid the hassle of changing residence. I use my friend's address in VA for my residence but I don't want to take my hometime there. So the question is: Will Crete change my hometime location without changing official address? I take off 4 days every 8 weeks. I just want those days to be in Utah plus I will get more west coast runs. We used to be able to take hometime anywhere in the country but this has changed. It has to be the same place every time. But does it have to be where I'm licensed?

Once again, when I was there.. I asked amy block my terminal manager in council bluffs and she said.. nope. You stay where you drivers license Is vased out of. Maybe someone can chime in that still is employed there. This was my experience when I lived in mo and wanted to visit family in ar.

I think you are probably right. Still it will be worth the hassle to get off the East coast. I'm having a hard time getting runs west of Kansas City. I can't even get to Texas on a regular basis. I thrive on variety. If I get stuck in one region, I get really bored.

My engine brake has always seemed really weak too unless I have high RPMs. But I noticed in the violation section of my qcomm, I'm instantly convicted of "over rpm" violation if I hit 1800 (even for 1 second). Not sure what the consequences are but kind of a catch-22.

Yes. Ask your FM to change your "Home City" to where you wish to take your time off. The "Home City" is where dispatch will route you to on time off. They will do that once, not weekly though. I live in Florida, but take my time off in Central IL because most of my family lives in that area. My legal address and most of the mail goes to my FL address, but dispatch sends me to IL on requested time off and vacation. My FM did not want to change it, but when I asked the Big Boss (Jack Peetz) up in Lincoln if it was OK...he said sure, tell them to change the "Home City" and I was to give him a call if I had more problems.

I think there is confusion about "hometime" versus residence address. My residence address (where I receive mail, pay taxes, etc) is in Florida. But I take all my 'home' time in California where all my relatives live. At first my AM complained, but after the first few times she stopped saying anything.

That's 100% exactly the situation I'm in. 10 years ago I used to just use a mail service in Las Vegas as the address on my license. But in the intervening years they cracked down on that and seem to know if you try to use a business address as your residence. So if I have to pick an address, I'll use one in a state with no income tax like FL. I don't see any problem as long as that's where you file your federal taxes. I haven't been back there since Thanksgiving.

    * As an added twist, my 'home' terminal is SLC and my car is always parked at Marietta.

** I didn't see Jimbo's response above until after I had submitted mine. I agree 100% with what he said.

As long as your address of residence(that Crete has on record) and your license are the same, you can work out where you want your hometime to be spent with your asset manager. I know several drivers who don't actually have a home, but have a relative receive their mail, but spend home time at various places around the country with friends and family. Their license and the address that Crete has on record as an address to send any paperwork to(and that the IRS says you have to have in order to claim the meal allowance) all match. Or at least that's how it use to be. Where you chose to spend earned time off is your choice as long as Crete's equipment is in a secure location.

With the way your A/M & F/M are...they'd probably throw a fit at you. I don't even watch the 'over rpm' percentage since the "how to drive a Maxxfarce" video said jake it at high rpm's. I scream mine...most times that little green shift light doesn't turn off between gears, and I keep the rpm's between 1900-2200 going downhill and have never heard a peep. The last Maxxfarce I was in had to have the screen replaced on the q/comm, and for some reason reset the threshold parameters to '63' on overspeed and '70' on excessive speed, and those always showed some overages...again, never heard a peep. But...I'm out of Deland...if I were under the watchfull eye of the wicked witch of the west, it might be a different story. The only 'over' I watch is idle...the rest is meaningless in my humble opinion.
