It's pretty good for a new driver not an ltl driver. Most ltl drivers make at least .10 cents more than that. I know of one that makes at least .21 cents more and don't have gravel lots

different regions in different areas pay differently, hence why I added my post before. Where as its fairly cheap to live out west more, in the Metro area where I am you couldnt afford anything at those rates. When I was at CWF 2 years ago, starting pay for line-haul was 41 cpm... and this is in NY, outside NYC and westchester is the MOST expensive county in the country... YRC we start at 51 cpm and top out at 63cpm. I believe CWF was 55cpm...

I do know Reddaway does pay lower than the other YRC branches, and they are the only non-union of YRC, but been hearing multiple terminals are looking to vote in... THey seem to operate similar to us though beside having pre-built sets or switchers build them for you. They seem to be more out west where it is a LOT cheaper to live then by NYC...

Im not trying to butt heads or start arguments but this is just what I know from talking to other drivers and from what I hear in my years of being LTL

I'm surprised they even let a 1st year driver run line. Usually companies want 2-3 years experience, especially if pulling triples.

Bro stopping on the interstate is theee worst thing you can do. Kinda hard to stop 3 trailers grossing 110k on a dime. I rather kill a deer then someone dying cause they went under the back of my trailer.

Driving trucks isnt that hard. I've had eight years of previous driving with the military. Not anywhere near the same thing, but it is the same concept

I usually do not try to stop when it happens. I slow down as much as I can and if I know the strike is unavoidable, I try to centre my truck with the deer if I can keep my truck in the lane. I do this to protect my lights.

Majority of LTL companies will hire you with just a license no experience, at my barn they will hire you with just a beating pulse. We got a few guys who just graduated truck driving school, when they get hired they are put into our training class taught by our over 1 million mild safe drivers

reddaway is a western regional LTL company. They dont have the big bucks like estes, od and fedex.. And besides living in MT has to be cheap as all get up, and they are under the YRC paycut too.. Really good post rr.. I never kept track of any of this stuff, so good job.

ACH1130, You're pretty much on the money. They start our drivers at 36cpm for 90 days then it goes to 39cpm. Tops out at 53cpm. Yes it is cheap to live in most of the western states but not California. By the way that is the pay for southern California. All benefits are paid for by the company at the union and non union yards in southern California. So the Yellow/Roadway guys make 10 cpm more than us. That hurts! I have only seen one opening at YRC down here for a part time dock worker. No shortage of Reddaway positions though. I know most if not all the old Bestway yards went union and now some of the Reddaway yards are as well.

No elogs, no cameras, no speed and lane sensors, no management saying why you left the gate 1 min late, no uniform, basically no BS. No holding of the hand. Laid back job here. Some of these big paying guys you'll start out and not work, starve. I've been working since day one and needed to cause I got rent, sports car, and a new Harley. If I went to these other guys I might of went to the poor house. Lookin like ill hit 70k this year after 2 yrs here and down the road if we get our paycut back it's a bonus. I can go to work without looking over my shoulder wondering if their gonna fire me like some of the guys that come over from the other companies. I work most of my time in life don't need that stress to be apart of it all the time.

forgot to mention all that about the trucks... I had to use a "rejected holland unit" today... BEST pulling truck in our fleet, if I downshifted once through the mountains with 50k then that was alot.

Radman you seem to be in the same boat as me, rent, pickup, car im rebuilding, two more in pieces in my dads backyard, new bike. The gf is low maintence thankfully so thats a huge money saver. If I didnt take the transfer I would probly be your room mate in the poor house as well and not the be able to live on my own. We are getting our 15% next year... many Business agents from the union are fighting for it now with all the things YRC been doing to us lately, and that attempt to buy ABF was the last straw... Contract was due back in March... Dont know who YRC is paying to extend it the year though...
