Got to the pickup at 0100 for a 0400 pickup. Should be no problem right? Wrong, I was 13 hrs late not 3 hours early.
Seems we just can't get it right when it comes to planning and dispatch.

Post your best mis-coordinated loads here. Maybe someone will actually use this info to improve.

The biggest mis-coordinated loads for me are the preloads that end up being live loads and the shipper is closed when you get there. This has always been the downfalls of running at night. They always get a bullseye on the crap loads though.

I Got a call friday night from west memphis dispatch around 8pm asking where I was.

I said "just stopped at a friends while riding my motorcycle."

She asked if I'd left Nike yet?

"Ummmm.... I never went to Nike."

Then asked "where's the load from nike at?".

I replied "I guess at nike..."

"Why didnt you get it? And where is your truck?"

"You are in west Memphis? "

    "Yes"

"You can't see where my truck is on your pc?"

    "No"

"Does it show last location? What status is? If I'm logged in? Time I logged out of truck? My scheduled home time?"

    "Yes to all question"

"Then I'm not in.my truck. It is at the yard. And I'm on home time. I never recieved a dispatch to go to nike. If I did I would have refused as I did not have the hours after sitting at the memphis post office trying to get unloaded. I'm glad you called but why wait 4 hrs to do so?"

"Well the driver you were swapping with is here and can't find the trailer"

"So no msg saying I'm headed to nike or at nike and no one thought to call earlier?"

    Silence....

"Again I never recieved to load. I logged off the truck about 5-5:30. Glad you called so we could straighten this out. I got to go as I'm headed to dinner and can't talk on the phone and ride at the same time. Have a good night. "

So yes someone somewhere is confused. I don't know who assigned me the nike load or when but I never recieved it. I had talked with my fm about 4pm and last we discussed was me going home after I got the confusion at the post office figured out. I had already sat there two hours trying to find a delivery number nobody had. The Nashville drop went smooth. But not good ole Memphis.

You should always communicate to dispatch before you part for home-time so that they dont try to put one of their own mistakes onto you. I never leave the yard until I either have a q/c or email communication.

Yea I figured when I talked to my fm and didn't see anything I was good. Never happened before so didn't think about it. Guess next time I am not under a dispatch and am doing what I was told ill still do their job for them. I was dropping at the dowtown Memphis post office about ten minutes from the yard. My fm would nit have sent me 40 minutes away at rush hour to live load then drive 50 minutes back to the yard with only 3hrs left on my 14. I'd never make that. I know the traffic in Memphis. I know where nike is. There are actually two. One is 30-40 minutes away without rush hour traffic. The other is at least 45-55 minutes away. I count hitting all the red lights. That would have been real tight on time depending on how long it took to load. I would have said no anyways.

But I guess ill call from now on. Just seems redundant. But I'm just a dumb driver what do I know?

You might have ended up spending the night at Nike even if you had a full 14 available. I hate going there but they usually have good loads for us.
