Do they not offer traffic school in IL or FL? I would have went to traffic school and gotten one of them off my record.

15 over can be reckless driving at the officers discretion. If you did get charged with reckless driving, again at the officers discretion you can be arrested and the vehicle impounded.
He cut you a break there. It doesn't matter if it cost $1000 for an attorney, you go to court and fight it if you can... if it isn't too late. Usually when one goes to court if they can't get it dismissed they will knock it down to 5 or 10 over which is not near as bad on the record as 16 over is.
You're not a testosterone laden teenager in a hot rod anymore. When you get that CDL you need to get neutered and respect it. Now you are seeing why. Protect your future and your payday.
At most companies 15 over is considered a major violation and bars you for 3 years. That doesn't mean all but many. -
I got a 16 over in my personal vehicle and had it lowered, with the help of a lawyer, to a 4 over. My company said the insurance company would more than likely drop me sooo it was an easy choice. Tailgating and excessive speed are only outdone by one charge...DUI. Saw an Averitt last year on I-20 in Alabama riding about a foot off a cars bumper and he got pulled over. He might as well of cracked open a beer as the trooper was walking up to his truck because he was finished at that moment.

With the 16 over, your screwed. Its an insurance thing. I also read the they dont lower tickets for CDL holders. So pretty much your looking at waiting till they drop off , 3 to 5 years. Good Luck.

Thank you for the responces. The only box checked on the ticket was speeding 0-20 over the limit. IL does not allow traffic school for CDL holders. At the time I only had a permit. I asked if I was elligable for traffic school with the permet, they said yes as long as I do it before I get my CDL liscence. But whoever I talked to was wrong because I got rejected from traffic school because of the permit and got an automatic convivtion no court date or anything. Tried to explain it to the court, they said the case is closed. I could get a lawyer and petetiton to reopen the case. If the judge agrees then I have to prove myself innocent since I already "plead guilty" by signing up for traffic school. So it dosent look good, I am going to contact a lawyer for advice...........

In the mean time I am going to start filling out some applications and see what happens. I really want to stay local, I am willing to do any type of driving, food/beverage delivery, dumps, ready mix, p/d, line hall, moving...... Are any areas of trucking easier to get into than others? Also, I was thinking if I can not find any driving job I would try to get a loading dock job until my record clears, to at least get my foot in the door someware, would that be a good idea?
baha Thanks this. -
most places 20 over is or can be wreckless. if he didn't write it as wreckless, than it's just speeding. 16 over in chicago in a personal vehicle, I'm surprise he stopped you. Don't they still have the probation period in Ill? where you take Probation when you go to court. as long as you don't get stopped again in a year it doesn't go on your record? You do still pay the $$ right away of course. No lawyer needed for that.
Now for the "hire a lawyer and fight" crowd. I did that for a bad ticket many years ago. won the case, down to zero points etc....went for a driving job and was turned down, reason? The orig ticket was for XXX we don't go by what it was lowered to, we go by orig infraction....just food for thought. the lawyer was expensive -
drvrtech77 Thanks this.
