Just got my new Rand McNally TND 720 yesterday and went to download the Dock software and connect to computer to register the unit and updates etc.

Well neither of my 2 computers will connect saying "USB device not recognized" so it won't let me install the Dock software because it says I have to connect the GPS unit first which it doesn't recognize. Any help/suggestions?

If you took advange of the Trade in offer, on the Packing slip, bottom right is the return shipping label. Be sure to keep a copy of any shipping paperwork you used to send your trade in back to Rand.

Note, the trade in offer is extended till 9/25/13.

The code for the 520 is DA520TRADE
The code for the 720 is DA13TRADE

    Thanks,
    Mark

I took advantage of the trade and ordered the 720LM but it is not saying if the receiver is included and I don't know why they charged me $20 tax since is an online order and I don't live in Illinois.

    Try this,

Set your power settings to high. A lot of newer computers are set to ECO mode on the USB ports.

With the 720 on and connected, reboot the computer. This will allow the Port with the 720 connected to see it as a higher current device.

Until the computer sees the 720 as an external drive the Dock will not install.

    Thanks,
    Mark

Traffic receiver is not included. Once you connect to a HotSpot the traffic is pulled from an internet source.

Tax is based upon users state. RM is in IL, but it is a online store you purchased from.

    Thanks,
    Mark

Do I need a traffic receiver if it's connecting to a Hotspot?
