There is a bulk/tanker company that is looking for tanker cleaners. I just wondered if anyone knows what is like to do this kind of work. Thanks.

Yeah, nasty and cheap. Wet and cold. Might draw 15 hr in the bay.
Don't make it your first choice unless you have too.

There is a tank wash in or near down town columbus. i forget the name but its back behind an Aldi's store.

Very dirty work and the odors are downright offensive. You could make the same money working at a quick oil change place and stay a lot cleaner. PLUS those oil change places typically are open 9-5 hours with Sundays and holidays off.
Depending on what product was previously hauled in the tank, you will climb up top and drop the chemicals in then when the process is done you will drain the tank. While this is going on you will flush the hoses and hose down the outside of the tank. -
Take the job. Once you get the routine down it's OK. Much better than sitting in an office or working in retail.

Did it for 4 years. If they hadn't closed the terminal, I'd probably still be doing it. Most of the time it is a very easy job. Drop the spinner in, hook up your return pump hose and let it go. There are some products that may require you to go in and scrape or pressure wash, but if the rack is using the proper cleaning chemicals like boosted caustic and strippers, it should be minimal.
You will be hot in the summer and cold in the winter, and you will stay wet some days. Some products you'll come in contact with are very dangerous. You should probably start around the $15/hr range + benefits as an entry level guy. Depending on how busy they are you could end up with a bunch of overtime.
All in all it really is a pretty decent job and you will meet a lot of people. I'd jump on it.
Also, fwiw I typically made in the $35k range washing tanks. It's not a ton by any means, but you can sure do a lot worse. I was able to buy a house (not outright, obviously) before I was 25 because of that job. -
I went in and talked to the terminal manager today. Terminal was clean, employees laid back. Took me out and showed me the process of cleaning tankers.
Didn't look too bad. Hopefully get call soon to get start date! -

It was on Harmon Ave south of downtown off Greenlawn Avenue. Didn't see an Aldi's. Company is A and R Transport.

My neighbor drives for A&R and doesn't have much bad to say about them. Sounds like a good company to work for.
