Eh, the Mack Rawhide is just trying to capitalize on the long hood, classic popularity. To me, it's just a knockoff....

Though, I'm not a total cheerleader - I'm biased towards 379/W900's. Those trucks are trend setters IMO.DrtyDiesel Thanks this. -
Now what I'm trying to figure out is why this question would be asked in the first place. Its a fuciing peterbilt for gods sake. If you don't know what the deal is with peterbilt why were you given a CDL? That WAS an automatic FAIL on my cdl test if you missed the answer to that question because out of A,B,C, AND D 3 answers were correct.
On a serious not until you have driven a REAL peterbilt (359 series, 352, 362, 351, 379 series) you won't understand. You will be the same as the one guy bragging about his plastic freightliner from the why the long hoods thread. There is something about that oval (yes when you take a test you circle the correct answer) that is just right. They produce quality trucks and yes they are quality. You dont see volvos on truck paper with a million plus selling for 40-50k do you? Kenworth does have a nicer more luxurious cab. But thats a fiberglass truck as well. Good way to cut cost and its expensive as hell to fix. I can put a new fender on my pete in 2 hours a w900 needs a whole new hood.
Peterbilt has always had good styling and that's why they're popular my 379 long hood might not be economically correct but I don't really give a rats behind. Some of those guys say us large car drivers are overcompensating yep they're right I'm 5'10 and 130 as of my last doctors appointment so I'm a small guy with an 80ft long, 13'6" tall 102" wide lit up chromed out dirty peterbilt and I wouldn't have it any other way. I'd like to see one of those plastic trucks go where mine goes and see how long they last. There's a guy that runs a couple Colombia's with less than 400k on them. Pulls grain wagons bought them new. They're in the shop every week getting something or other fixed on them. You get what you pay for.
Them KW boys will say I paid for a name and KW is just as good. Yea well I don't like the slope to the hood on a W900 and I wanted a comfortable sleeper not a couch. My truck doesn't turn worth a darn, rides like a lumber wagon with as heavy as I am usually, the seats are uncomfortable as hell. But she's mine all mine and she looks good. She makes money and that's all that matters in the end.
And yes I do have little mans syndrome. Hahawore out, DrtyDiesel and G3Truks Thank this. -
I get it....

If you don't like a hood.....don't drive one.....really simple....haulhand, skootertrashr6, loves2truck and 4 others Thank this. -
I miss my 379EXHD. I loved that truck, I like this new t660 only because its new, but I'll take that 2007 379 back in a heart beat. I miss my dual breathers and side exhaust.
MJ1657 Thanks this. -
Instead of asking why the attraction, lets be real what is there not to be attracted to on a Pete. Looking at them yes there cool. Till you drive one well a feeling thats indescribable. When you combine petermobiling and cowmobiling that's like sex with a pornstar. If you ever quit its a high you chase for the rest of your life. Mine is a 1985 359 its never been restored and worked hard all its life. Inside looks as good as outside. other than seats and carpet its all original. Just put new paint on it, but there was very little body work. Its pulled a small new pneumatic tank, and a pott most its life both are hard on a rig it doesn't have the rattles and squeaks of the uncool.
G3Truks and DrtyDiesel Thank this.
