Hey Teddy! Seems the marriage reunion didn't last long anyway... I was busy, cooking and doing laundry... I had a OK afternoon, bus ride to Walmart, some shopping... not bad... just a "normal" day. Hey, praying you have a as good as possible week and hope that shot is coming soon to give you some pain relief my dear... Take care Teddy...

    1. Anybody? What's wrong with how he put the bungee (spider) on?
1a. What did he miss when applying the spider?
[spider rubber is a waste of money...look at the picture, see how stressed at the hub the "legs" are...they will last 2 maybe 3 applications then pop right off the chain...and another bites the snow pack.]

    2. 15 minutes to apply one chain(?), in clear weather, no traffic, no one trying to splash him???? For minimum level (4 tires total) that will be 1 hour plus, for modified max 1.75 hours! Doing it correctly (The Otter Way)...25 minutes for minimum, 40 minutes for mod max!

    3. I don't think the motel will appreciate the "digs" he is putting on their asphalt...even with the approximately 3-4 feet he is moving on the chain.

    4. One question...did he drape the chain over the top of the tire, or lay it out behind?

    OH...I'm such a stickler!!!!:yes2557:

Lookout is one grade, Floyd-Georgetown-Eisenhower is the next grade, and Vail climb. Actually I have done better fuel cost by going I-70 v. I-80. There is actually more downhill than on I-80, plus the wind and icing factor the entire run across WY.

As far as grades, you have 3 major climbs across WY, then the Parleys climb out of Park City, and 2 long climbs before the I-70/I-15 junction...not to mention the mess getting through SLC! If you top off the tanks in NE before cutting south to Denver, you won't need fuel until Parowan or maybe Beaver.

Wouldn't two bungies work just as well?

And I always place the hooks facing out.......But that's just me....

Obviously someone doesn't get out our way much... at least from that description. Striker?? What say you?

Said like a company guy! :biggrin_25522:

The wind is what keeps the road clear o' snow Mr Otter... either blowin' it up to Montana, or helpin' the ski areas in Colorado!!

You forgot about Sherman Hill... they're all quite a bit shorter than anything in Colorado. :biggrin_25512:

Add 50 in Boise, and I'll fill in Troutdale, thank-you! :biggrin_25520:

Fill in OR? It may appear to cost less...only going by pump price...but nothing of that OR fill is going towards the Highway Use. OR is basically double taxed for commercial rigs. the rule of thumb is splash on enough to get out of OR and top off in whichever state your entering into!

Yeah...it has been a while ... I have been shut down at Vail once in 20 years for about 36 hours...now I-80, that one gets closed for days at a time. No thanks, I'll take 70 over 80 any day!

Doesn't matter anymore Otter... IFTA is one big pot of money these days. The idea is to buy the cheapest base rate (pump price - state tax) that you can. You're gonna pay the tax you're gonna pay... doesn't matter where you fill the IFTA tax bucket at.

How's that? There's no state fuel tax on commercial diesel fuel, and your gonna pay the highway mileage surcharge whether you buy fuel or not.

They're all more expensive at base rate.

It's just a matter of timing...
