Sounds like I am rubbing off on y'all. I got my Pol-Tex to GP delivered, found myself another loaner truck since this one has a DOT write-up that has to be OK'd and a few other issues. I looked for 3267, it was there, but not on the list. Plus it had a big wet spot under the passenger side hood. I picked 3269, which was fairly clean, the engine ran smooth, and the APU functioned...so I took it, scratched it off the lists, and asked for a bob-tail pass so I could go do laundry and hit Wally...all was fine, truck pulled good, was fairly smooth and as quiet as a Freightliner Columbia can be. All was fine until I tried to come to a stop at the first red-light that is...dropping from high range to low range, the syncro's were out, so the transmission made the most disturbing grinding noise. Since I was out, I went ahead and did my laundry, got my supplies and headed back to the yard to swap to another truck yet again. Good thing I didn't hesitate...there were 2 left. Got swapped, and a couple other drivers were heading to the Chinese buffet and asked if I wanted to ride along, so I went. My load home wasn't going to be ready until 5 am, and I wanted to talk to Tommy about that trailer I pulled that had repair errors, plus I had to talk to Martin about the citation I got. He said they would cover the cost since it wasn't my fault, but I'd have to pay it and they'd reimburse me somehow. I heard other drivers warn me about trusting that, but I will trust it, until I have a reason not to. I pick up my load paperwork, find the trailer, and it's due for an inspection. So back to the shop I go. I get out of there in a reasonable amount of time, and I'm off to Valdosta. While sitting in the Wilco waiting for my appointment time, the main belt breaks on the APU...which is the generator belt...which is the heat....but since Poly doesn't disable the endless idle when they install an APU, it's usable until I get back to GP. I delivered to Valdosta, and now I'm home for 4 whole days. 1st days off at home since my brief 'pick up my stuff' visit....and my smart phone is here...wooohooo, I'm back in the modern world again

Your not rubbing off. It's just status-quo for the older trucks & ( as you say ) MaxFarce engines. But considering the long trips & ability to make up for bad weeks due to equipment ( something I couldn't do at Crete when the week(s) were bad because of lack of freight ), most of us just take it as it comes.

If you were told they would find a way to cover your expenses for the fines, they will. I was given an invoice for an IL toll violation that was past due ($91). I asked Pat why wasn't I given the initial invoice to pay before the fines & late fees. He said he didn't know, other than it just got lost in the shuffle, but if I could prove I paid the fine he would make it right. I did, & he did.

Did they ever change, tweak, or otherwise scuttle your health insurance?

I read through it the other night. The only significant change is the doctor's visit co-pay is increasing from $10 to $15.

I seem to remember talk of eliminating or cutting back on employee's health insurance at Poly. Glad that didn't happen. Five bucks is quite manageable.

Unless my kids need school clothes.

The real test will come next year when the employer exemption for the ACA expires.

While I sit in Baytown Flying hook waiting for my Denny's gourmet meal, I thought I would send in a quick update.
i am still glad I came over to Poly from Crete. As I have become more familiar with operations here, I have increased the efficiency of my time away from home and thus my earnings this year will be better than the last. I still go home quite a bit so I will never be a top earner at Poly, but I am nevertheless happy with the amounts I can take home with the time I do work.
The most important thing I have optimized this year is picking which days to be on the available board at Grand Prairie. It has taken me awhile to figure out which loads are good and which are bad from a maximum earnings per day standpoint. It took longer still to figure out which days those better runs where dispatched out of GP. Now that I have the patterns down better, I am making more wise choices and thus earning more in less time and less work.
Truck reliability has still been an issue this year even with a 2012 model Prostar. I have had a new egr cooler, differential seal failures(x2), and 2 separate breakdowns due to high pressure fuel lines breaking. Hopefully, these issues won't crop up again for awhile.
I hope everyone has a wonderful Holiday season! I am thankful for a great job and great coworkers. God Bless you all.

Well managed to knock out 2090 miles in 3 days:) Could have been 2150 but I got held up in a wreck south of Tacoma and knew that the Loves there would be a cluster so I pulled up in Chenalis. First time delivering to the Sam's in Tacoma, in and out in 45 minutes but still awaiting a back haul call. The old FL is holding up albeit the APU is billowing smoke from time to time but I have been finding good parking spots so as not to smoke anyone out so far:) Put in for a load heading back toward GP so I can get in my regular truck and try to make this second driver meeting and then get back home for Thanksgiving, we'll see.
