For all the do-gooders here busting the OP's husband's chops for driving C&R, lighten up Francis.
Yes it's true that in many states, including here in NC, anything above 15 over is an automatic careless and reckless.
My brother is a retired NC state trooper so I know first hand that the OP's husband was ticketed in what is probably known by the LEO's there as a "honey hole." That said, at least two times in my memory speed limits have actually been RAISED in such areas, after it was determined that the large number of ticketed violators indicted to the DOT that the speed limit was set too low.

To the OP, hire an an attorney. It is reasonable to expect a desirable outcome.

16 over isn't that bad. I had 4 tickets when I lived in PA all were 75 in a 55. Went to court for all of them and they all got reduced to no point violations. Just got another for 84 in a 65 going to court for that one too. If you don't want to speed that your choice, don't complain about my speed because you don't want or cant go that fast. Ill do my thing and you do yours.

You must make a lot of money. I mean if you're that willing to give it to the state.

I got a 17 over in my personal vehicle and hired a lawyer who got me a nice shiney 62 in a 60. Cost me about $500 bucks but my company said the insurance company would more than likely drop me, so it was $500 dollars well spent.

If I was worried about the money, I wouldn't speed.

And yes I am independently wealthy. I just do this for fun :biggrin_25520:

I wish I had a penny for every story I've heard and read like this. We all go in knowing full well we are damaged goods if we get tickets. Then people still scratch their head when they get tickets and wonder why they don't have a job.
