Anyone running LED headlights?

Truck-Lite LED and I love them

 

Phillips ballasts since 1999 - never had one quit on me. I have a spare halogen under the bunk. I could just pop out a high beam and put in the low beam or mess around with the wires and pull out the HID and put in the glass halogen low beam.

 

I have the 7" Truck-Lite LEDs and they are very good. I live in Pennsylvania and work the surrounding states haven't had much issues with snow or ice I mostly do short trips anyway. My neighbor works for Truck-Lite so I got the pair for under $200.

 

I have the united pacific LED headlights luv them I can see at nite like I could 25 years ago

 

There's a special place in my heart for bright lights. I thought of this thread this week while doing more than usual night shift driving. Worst offender this week was a chicken truck, probably a Pete threesomethingorother, with (probably poorly installed) LED headlights complimenting the massive array of LED markers everywhere you could imagine placing them. That might look cool at a truck stop or on a calendar, but it sucks in my mirrors at 0300. I haul the same product, sometimes with haste, and for some reason I'm just not compelled to be a nuisance to everyone else on the road like that. It can be done tastefully. Not this one.

I think it says more about the move of truck makers toward aerodynamic composite lamp bezels that turn to crap in a year or two. IMO these are crappy even when new compared to good old sealed beam lamps constructed of actual glass. In the best case, someone without the hundreds to spend on new bezels will compensate by running fog lamps all the time. I get it. But if you're upgrading to retina-searing lamps thinking only of improving your own field of view, you're probably the same guy that runs thru parking lots in high range with the jakes on and parks on the fuel island to wait on your fast food. Just another way to be inconsiderate, as-if we need more ways to do that.

PS: There is no magic light filtering force field in the median strip of a divided highway, nor is there one built into most rear view mirrors. If you can see another vehicle around you, don't be a douche with your brights or fog lamps. If the DOT would figure out what a great revenue stream this could be, it might get them off of writing tickets for tires that are too black or logbook punctuation.

 

I haven't used LED headlights myself but know that Freightliner will be using only LED in the 2014 model year trucks. Chrome Shop Mafia has been installing them on trucks for a while and can recommend which type you will need for your 379.

 

I like my united pacific projector lights with just normal bulbs after the first of the year I'm gonna run relays straight from battery with brighter bulbs

 

It's called old age the glare gets worse, Some say those amber coloured glasses help a lot, For lights all I use is either Wagner or GE. 100 watt 5-6" seal beam spot flat front, I put 4 of them on my moose bumper and a switch on my door with A Wagner single post relay I buy them any where from 9 - 20 dollars,I just put them in a rubber back-up light housing all four on make it look like daylight,I aim 2 up the middle and angle 2 slightly towards the ditch,You'll see 2mile ahead, Beats 1200.00 on led's that are terrible when it snows,I find led's help in front of you but not great for distance, And do you think led's are only 55 watt on low beam I think not, But know with mine if the on coming doesn't dim and I give him mine I can usually tell if his nose hair needs trimming................

 

I have holgen lights on my star they generate enough heat to keep the snow and ice from building up and you can get them at lesco distributers in edmonton alberta canada the hole package with headlight buckets 4 headlight w/blubs amd resistors for about under $800.00 canadian maybe less, they ship anywhere if interested ask me and I will send you the email address they have just about e everything under the sun for trucks I'm trying to promote anything I buy a lot of stuff from them that's all they good to deal with

 

Do you know the proper distance and height to aim your headlights, I have a 2012 star 4964 4 headlight system
