Can anyone tell me does Mercer use qualcomms to communicate with their drivers?
When they offer a load, do they tell you the total gross of the load and the amount of the FCS?
Do they compensate for DH miles or is it incorporated with the gross?
Any my input would be appreciated, thanks.

when I was with mercer they would say this much money and these miles. if u wanted they would break it down for u. Remember when mercer gives you a rate like $1000 that is money to you or to the truck as we like to call it.when your settlement would come in the mail it showed gross money your percentage and fuel surcharge and any extras.Mercer may be the only outfit that tells you the truck money that is why so many say mercer freight is cheap because they do not understand the mercer system. Lets say abc gives you a rate of a thousand bucks, then you get 75% or 750 plus fuel. Mercer would just say it pays like 850 to you, same thing just a bit easyier
281ric Thanks this. -
no qualcomms, just use your cellphone, and a real person answers the phone, you don't even have to press I or 2 for English, and no when you get offered a load you aren't told the total gross, you are simply given exactly what the load pays to the truck.
I only care about what I get, I could give a rats behind what the gross is, I don't like doing rithmatic281ric Thanks this. -
I looked at the mercer load board. There is a load or two going from Eastaboga Al. to Barnwell Sc.
I just pulled one of these loads last week. Kronobeam to kronotex I believe. I have it wrote in my book. Just curious if I could compare a net rate from anyone from Mercer who has done the same run.
Im thinking there's a bit shadiness here where I'm at now. -
I netted $419.30 from that haul minus my fuel. I'm wondering if anyone can give me a comparison, higher or lower?

you are looking at the broker board on mercertown.com that's not our load board for the contractor trucks
and who knows what you fuel mileage is, so the net would be different, what was the gross on the 295 mile trip? the loads are gone but if I remember they paid the truck around 700 bucks.Last edited: Dec 21, 2013

Yes I did view it on mercer website. The gross was $599 total. I get 70% to the truck and a discount on fuel purchase. I'm just trying to get an idea as an o/o, I feel I should and could be making more. I fell into an opportunity to lease on with a company, my credit sucks due to divorce so I was able to purchase a truck with no credit check and no money up front. I plan to pay this truck obligation off as quickly as I can and buy what I prefer. Even pull for better company

well on that trip that would be 2.00 a mile gross, which gave you about 1.40 a mile to the truck, the fleet avg for all of mercer flatbed fleet is 1.71 a mile for all miles loaded and empty . all the runs I see out of Alabama on the contractor board for 300 to 500 mile trips the cheapest rate is over 2.00 a mile to the truck our fuel discounts range from .28 to .40 a gallon. example , yesterday in Arkansas I paid 3.48 a gallon , pump price was 3.85 a gallon cash

I'm paying $1.99/gallon only at pilot and flying hook. No surcharge. S

So it looks like it may be pretty close to the same. That was the only trip I saw that I could compare.
