Swift now pays the student's state minimum wage for on duty not driving and minimum wage plus a dollar for on duty driving. They are also very careful to verify student hours and if the correct paperwork is done the students get the pay they have coming. I don't believe this story at all; part is false which makes the rest unbelievable.

Future Job hopper in the making. He really thinks he can do better with Western Express a company who hires felons, and the Russian guy who is probably going to pay him on a 1099 and give him loose leaf logs and falling apart truck.

    Don't be an idiot.
Go back to Swift. Finish your training and what you signed up for. Job hopping to bottom feeders will get you nowhere.

There was plenty of info here on Swift when you joined in July -

Request a new trainer that isn't an animal, put on your big boy pants and learn the ropes.

1 year clean with one W2, and you'll be looking at this post and sending me a Xmas present in 2014.

    Good luck.

    Notice a trend here, OP?

Don't be a job hopper; I've met guys that literally had 20/30 jobs in 10/15 years of trucking- they were going no where because they couldn't settle down long enough to let things get better.
Swift is pretty bad from what I've heard, and I've heard quite a lot about Swift. However, YOU picked them. They didn't force you on that greyhound, they didn't force you to sign that two year commitment paperwork.

Training is difficult and stressful, that's why you want to get it done right the first time. By leaving you're starting the WHOLE process over again.

So I'm going to take a page out of Ritcher's book here; Stay with Swift at the very least for a year, or leave this industry.

You won't get a decent job without at-least a solid years good driving OTR. I am so glad that I had this community on the truckers report to fall back on when I was doing my first year AND my training. A lot of these guys got me through it, they gave me useful advise and tips. At-least one of them SAVED my life! And that ain't no joke! My family also gave me support and help along the way.
I'm back home, I have another pain in the neck job. It's local. It pays amazing. I got it, ONLY because I did my year OTR accident/incident free WITH A SINGLE COMPANY.

Triple is right on with this. I happen to have worked for Swift for about 15 months, last year and some of 2013, and never ran into anything like this. Swift absolutely does pay by the week in training. I was paid $450/week, paid on time and to the penny. Something isn't right. A bad trainer? Not unusual, just get on another truck. Once you have your own rig, you'll be just fine, if you're any good. You should think about being glad somebody's giving you a $130K truck to drive, and miles to earn money with. I made about $36K my first year there, then went to another carrier with better compensation with my clean full year of driving. Also, Swift pays $.04/mile safety bonus, quarterly. If you drive 32K clean miles, that's a nice chunk of money that doesn't show in the per mile numbers.

I don't think it's very likely that Swift had a trainer that was crapping while the truck was moving, were notified about it and did nothing. Easily a major lawsuit. It's more likely that OP is fabricating lies.

To all of you wannabes out there in WannabeLand who wonder why driver get started at an extremely low wage, have to go to work in a circus, and are treated like cattle at a slaughterhouse, thank the dirtbag. Oh, and when you get your CDLs and change your wannabe status to rookie, I want you be on the lookout for the dirtbags. They're easily recognizable...they will be that person that's been driving for over 15 years that competing with you for the same job.

Your name is is and will always be the most valuable thing you have. Want to protect your wealth? Do what you say you're gonna do. Be a person of your word.

Corey most of these companies will make you feel like its a waste of time. You get what you pay for. THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A FREE LUNCH. Your next trainers will have P bottles and poop in trash cans, or walmart sacks or holes they put in the floor of their truck. Just a few of the stories I have heard. Stuff like that will come in handy when you don't want to sit on a port a potty at a shipper or receiver that has more crap on the seat than is in the toilet. Or You stuck in a gazillion mile back up and traffic moves 3 feet every 30 minutes. This ain't the cub scouts. This is truckin my friend. It will put some hair on your chest.
