Here I go...once again into the deep freeze. Headed to Poltex picking up a Cottage Grove load. Saturdays high 7 low -18...Sundays high -7 low -25...Monday high -11 low -28....Today's weather brought to you by the letters B and R as in BRRRRRRRR. I guess I'll have to give Fleetnet a call...with temps like that I don't need my engine fan running all the time...I was hoping to get thru GP to swap to a loaner so they could fix that and put a new windshield in...got nailed by something coming thru Beaumont yesterday and have a silver dollar size doahhhh on my passenger side.

Good luck up there in the Land of 10,000 Lakes
Been a slow slog today through IL and IN, still got another 200 miles or so to knock out. Michigan is supposed to be pretty chilly but nothing in that -25 range, be glad to be heading south again tomorrow.

Since when has Poltex been off limits to drop paperwork? 1st I've heard of it. Jerry called me 1st thing this a.m. asking me why I left my paperwork there. He said they'll try to get it to GP so I get paid next week...but cannot promise anything. After all the extra time it took me to get reloaded down there I didn't have the hours to make it far last night so 900ing and swapping trucks was out of the question. Plus he said I was suppose to stop by and fuel in GP? I topped it off before scaling in Poltex so I might have used 45 gal to get to GP...since the load is going to Cottage Grove it would have been 40 ish miles out of route to go thru GP...the cost of fuel to get me there and the extra money they'd pay me in mileage...I would have had to put on a 1/2 tank to just break even on the savings of bulk prices compared to discount prices we get at our fuel stops. Sometimes I just don't get it.
This has been a very lousy start to the new year. Family members near death...problems with not doing stuff right(because no one ever mentioned how to do it)...most of my electronics f'g up...endless equipment issues. Kinda makes me very leary about 2014 on the whole. -
ya having to fuel again and also waste the time gettn in an out of there seems kinda crazy.
is it just me or do these super single drives horrible in snow? this was my 1st time using them and it seems like the snow gets pAcked in the tread and it becomes like a racing slick -
SS, we've never been able to leave paperwork at Pol-Tex. You should have been told that in orientation. Concerning stopping to fuel in GP, in one ear out the other. Let it go. It's not a big deal. Hope your year gets better.
I've never trusted the super singles in the snow. I just go slower.supersnackbar and againstthewind Thank this. -
And as far as super singles...it depends on which type. The lugs like on the old Freightliner loaners aren't bad...but the street/high mileage tread like on my truck get stuck on an oversized pile of dog poo. Thankfully there aren't many Great Danes out here in trucks...if I hit one of their deposits...it would be a wrecker pulling me out.Dinomite Thanks this. -
SS, to do a continuation: contact backhaul, leave message if necessary, let then know you want a continuation. They will email security your name. When you arrive at the inbound scale tell security your name & that you are on a continuation. Repeat process outbound. When outbound on a continuation you need not get on the scale. Just stop beside then & wait for the ok.
supersnackbar Thanks this. -
