Would it be unwise to apply at YRC , in your opinions?

Pretty sure those posters were issued by the company to be distributed. They are now hanging at most terminals I go to. Not sure why they would highlight this type of info. With what kind of enthusiasm are we supposed to go to work with knowing how financially screwed we are and may not have a job?

I think ACH1130 had the right idea by going UPS. I would become a browny scout in a heartbeat if only they would hire me

I would apply regardless. If/when they go under, I am sure someone else will scoop them up. Chances are if you do get hired, it will not be at the same pay scale as the newbs from last year. I read they are exploring the idea of reducing pay and benefits for all the new hires to stabilize their labour costs.

Edited my previous post numerous times. Couldn't figure it out taken serious. and I'll take your word for it. Sucks to see.

Why can't you get on with us? If they can hire my dumbarse they can hire anyone. ( clean criminal, driving, experience, Pizz test ) ?

It's not unwise to apply. I would stay away from their part time jobs though. Screams layoff waiting to happen.

Part time is actually not a bad gig if you wanna work just for the hell of driving a truck. I would not even remotely consider it if you have actual bills to pay. I think our part time guy makes about $600 every two weeks. He is also the "Chef de Plonge" (head-dishwasher) at our local restaurant on his other days.

@Shaggy. No idea why they won't consider me. I just get the generic rejection email "Thank you for your application, but our position has already been filled". Either way though, I currently live right next to my terminal. I can almost look out of my kitchen window to see if my truck is there for the night ...or broke down yet again.

@Nightwind Speaking of rejection letters. Don't be surprised if you get a couple of those as well. I had at least four of them before I got my job. Don't give up. You live in Chicago so at least you have options. Be nice to have another success story of someone going local right out of CDL school... if anything just to rub it in the faces of all the naysayers on here that insist you have to go OTR first.
