Current Werner Driver Shares Knowledge

As a potential person whom is looking at entering the trucking industry what worries me about werner is the low pay in comparison to many other companies that will hire drivers fresh out of cdl school as well - but pay considerably better. What are your thoughts on this?

 

What bothers me is their drivers, mainly. Poorly trained. And, as you said, low wages. Teaming/training/ students. But at least their stellar CSA scores will prove me wrong, right?

 

I hear people say stay away from otr at werner and try to go deticated. why is that? I know you make more cpm being deticated...but is that the only reason to stay away from being on the otr fleet?

 

Its just another horrid mega carrier that all should steer clear of until they clean up their act.

 

I suspect the standard truckload drivers at Werner (not on a dedicated setup) have very poor weekly mileage averages is why you hear this all the time. Sitting much of the time is a dual edged sword. You make no money with not enough freight to go around, and you go out of your mind sitting and waiting so much of the time.

And then the drivers have to supplement their income by recruiting unsuspecting wannabes?

 

They could always advertise that they're 420 friendly as long as it's on your 34. High speed chicken feed and all that.im sure that will get them some new blood.

 

Is Werner's pay the same loaded and empty ?

Way back TMC didn't pay deadhead until you went past a certain distance....don't know if it's changed.

Talked to a Werner guy way back and he was caught up in the dead head hook also,can't recall all the details though.
