Being a Yard Dog is the BEST way to learn how to drive. They will Learn how to back up a truck. Learn how to Blind Side a Truck in very tight spots. I was a yard dog for about 3 years, had one driver make a smart ### coment, I put his trailer in a VERY tight spot, took me a good 10 minutes to get it in there. Dispatch, a few hours later, sent him to retrieve that trailer. I gets a call, he cant get it out of there. I goes over there. Ask him, whats the matter big mouth cant drive? If someone put it in, then it should come out. I blind sided the trailer in and you had to put the tractor right up TO A WALL, and INCH it back and Forth till you got it straight. Later, He would avoid me, when ever he would see me.

Note: When I Blind sided that trailer into the door, I opened the drivers side trailer door, and left the passenger side door closed, gave me a good 1foot extra, room, so I would not smash the door against the cement beam, and once I got the trailer inside, I had enough room the open that door then.

Note: There was a 53` trailer already dropped in the drivers side.

all I will say about a yard dog is you truck is WAY SHORTER than a otr truck by 8-10 feet so yes you can get into spots we can't

yes I've had to call the yard dog over to get trailers out.

    Hey!

Well, we've been OTR for a few weeks now and are getting used to the truck lifestyle. We both like it and are adjusting well!

We are very happy with Watkins & Shepard. Everyone has been super nice, especially the dispatchers. We received a new Volvo automatic, which we are very happy with. We are getting lots of miles, mostly drop and hooks loads.

Being a trucker is fun, we are enjoying the adventures and are learning much everyday!
