Last year I had to buy a dryer and it was close to 400 also.
Might try shutting it off, turn key on, open hood and listen for air leak. Does sound like you might have an air leak. I'd think if your fan clutch was leaking, you'd hear it with engine off, key on.
An air leak will work an air dryer and compressor hard.
I wish I was there to give you a hand, but then I'd probably melt in the rain.
If you find it is the fan clutch leaking, usually it's the valve and they can be replaced easly. On pete's the valve is on the outside firewall.

 

Well I never tried the engine off key on but with the key off it doesn't leak down overnight. Thanks for the tip.

 

Well, I've been with Mercer for one year. After ripping a few tarps and having to fix them, damaging too many straps the first 6 months, and learning the load board, I guess I'm getting better at this thing called "flatbedding".

Plans are to get my on truck this year so I can make "the big bucks"

 

The ECM will not supply air to the fan without the engine running. The only way to see if a fan hub is leaking is to pull the line off of the solenoid and supply shop air to the line.

 

Oscar, that isn't necessarily true. My truck shoots air to the fan with the key on. Also it's normally locked, takes air (and key on)to put it in neutral. All my previous trucks the fan was free spinning till air was supplied.

 

I guess I learned something new then, the last two trucks I have owned are like what I had previously stated.

 

If your purge valve keeps popping off I'd look for a air leak from the regulator to the air dryer, if it's loosing pressure your pump will keep coming on until it reaches pressure pop off than it starts again. The time to check it is when your valve pops shut the truck off and listin for a air leak.

 

I finished week two and I'm really liking it here. I took a load to Washington state and realized that I probably won't go back unless the load in pays great. Anyways, it all worked out and I loaded in Moses lake to Benicia, CA for a Monday delivery. I'm then loading in central cal for LA and will then need to head east. I need to go back to LKY to pickup my plate and twic card.

The tripack app is fantastic and so is the quick pay. However I scanned a load on Thursday afternoon and didn't get paid on Friday. Did I miss the cutoff?

 

Btw, anyone here pull one of Mercers steps? My trailer won't build up enough pressure to raise the deck when trying to open or close the spread when I'm loaded. If I'm empty, it lifts up in 15 seconds but if I'm loaded its a no go. I've tried it with a 40klb load, a 35klb load and my current load where in only 26k on the trailer axles. Do I need to go to a shop or is this normal?

 

It's cause you didn't send in any koolaid coupons with it. LOL
Sometimes with the trippak app. it gets lost in space. I'd call payroll first thing Mon.and they will ask for the transaction ID from the app. and get you paid immediately. If you get the trippak download for your laptop and use a scanner, it will have less loss in space, IMO.
Otherwise sometimes this is a problem between trippak and Mercer but happens here and there.
