I bet they still make me drop my trailer since they can't shut the door for my hood sticking out.

You took a load goin all the way across the country for 5100? That's what? 1.70 a mile? What the heck ya gonna be able to get out of there? Every time I've looked at the board for the northwest there isn't anything paying worth a darn.

Would you give a load back if you agreed to it, but once you get stopped and did the math you found out you weren't making anything?

Anybody planning on being around Louisville for the truck show. I got a six month inspection due by the end of march. Was thinking about doing it truck show week just so I could say I've been once.

They get real upset if you try that?
They say this would be grounds for termination.
Best to run it and be more careful in the future or come up with a better excuse.

I plan on being there during that week.
I beleive they don't do inspections that week but you should call and find out for sure.
Do you know it's more than the truck show that week? Mercer does it up all week at the yard with cookouts and seminars in the warehouse. Quite a litte party starting Monday of that week.

    cpenn Thanks this.

I will check on the inspection things thanks for that info, I knew Mercer did some stuff that week but didn't know it was to that extent. To be honest I never been with a company that I even wanted to hang out around the term or with the other drivers before so this whole deal is kinda new for me. Its surely a different world. And yes I like red kool-aid. It matches my truck!

Mercery also feeds you very well at the truck show as well. All you can eat Pizza one day and all you can eat chicken wings the next.
They provide shuttles to and from the show all day all three days of the show.
Mon.-wed. they do siminars and bring in a few guest speakers and large vendors including KY DOT. Lot to learn those days.
Also they give CSA point deductions for setting in the seminars.

    cpenn Thanks this.

So I went to the doonan dealer today and spec'd a very nice trailer. Here's a rundown...

    2015 Doonan Platinum 48 8/40 step
    Aluminum deck with 3 nailers
    13.5" kingpin
    Front axle lift kit
    Hendrickson tire pressure system
    General Tire brand LP22.5's
    Polished aluminum wheels
3-3-3 rear lights with two strobes
    9 lights per side
Gladhands and 4 pin plugs up front and underneath along with another 4 pin on the back of the trailer.
    rear dump valve
    right weigh load gauge
    6 pairs of container locks
sliding winch track both sides with 18 winches total
2 18x18x60 boxes between the spread
96" belly box between the landing gear/frame <--- really excited about this!
full set of HD ramps with stands and trailer mounts installed.

Approx. Weight is 11300 with everything and a whopping $50k including FET… It's a bit more than I was expecting partly because they have a 2013 in stock thats bare bones and a wood floor for $38k. However, this trailer has everything I need to be versatile and it's a trailer I'll keep for years (that's what I'm telling myself to justify a $50k combo trailer)

I had originally wanted 4 boxes but since the belly box is so big, I'll be able to keep all my dunnage and a few tarps in there so I'll have more room for junk in the other boxes. Although, I may still just get 4 boxes total just because. The sales guy was making a big deal about getting an all wood deck and that most military bases won't load a trailer without a full wood deck. That's a new one for me, as I've never had any problems loading with a metal floor. Come to think about it, I've never nailed anything to my deck loading at a base. I've always thought of wooden decks on flats/steps to be cheap. Over on the west coast we do two or four nailers and thats it. Do you guys have all wood decks?

I also decided to delete the J hook option. For 10 pairs of J Hooks and a couple holders it was over $300 and while that's not a lot, I could use that $300 for other things such as 9 lights down each side… =)

I'm pretty sure I'm going to pull the trigger and order this thing but I'm giving myself some time to think about it… What do you guys think?
