Ok, so I failed my cdl A 2 times already and the problem is that the school I go to is private and each time you want to re-test you need to pay them a good amount of cash. It's hard to re-test when I have no job with no money cause I gave them all my money to get into the school... Anyways, I was talking to someone who drives a school bus and that person says the school bus company will pay you to train and there is no re-test fee. So now I'm thinking about doing that for now then upgrade back the cdl A once I have job/money. The thing that confuses me is that I don't think the school buses have air brakes but my cdl permit has air brakes endorsement. If I do test on a school bus will I also have the air brake endorsement on my cdl license? I don't plan on driving a bus once I get my cdl so that air brake endorsement is important.

If it is a big school bus then it has air brakes. You will need to keep the air brakes and add the passenger endorsement.

Sorry you didn't pass your CDL test.School shouldn't charge u to retake it.I thought that was part on the plan to retake at no extra cost.

all the newer school buses have air brakes. the older buses do not have air brakes, but if you dont have a air brake endorsement you can not drive a school bus with air brakes. plus you will need the school bus endorsement, and about twenty hours of on line classes, and about four hours class room, and about four hours safety class. and if you have special needs kids you will need classes for that. i know that is more information that you need but you need to check and see what you need to get the school bus endorsement. lots of luck

I have a air brake endorsement on my cdl A permit. I'm asking what if the bus I test on doesn't have air brakes? Will I still have air brake endorsement?

you have to retest air brakes for school bus. even if you have air brakes on your cdl, i know that is dumb but thats the way it is.

i now drive a school bus in retirement, you will sign a contract for 190 days give or take at about 14 bucks a hour. however you will add to that bye taking trips sports, school functions, ect ect. most schools will watch your hours to make sure you dont go over 40 so they dont have to pay you over time. the average driver works about 35-40 hrs a week. then you are off all summer.
