IM sorry, i couldn't find my post so i reposted thinking the 1st one never went through....apparently i was just on the wrong page.

Well, after 14 months of solid service from my 720, operator error killed it.
The original charger broke (at the business end), and I had a charger that would fit until I could get a replacement. Bad idea. The charger I was using as a temp didn't have a (not sure what it's called....resistor perhaps?) and inside of a few days, I hear the sizzle of death as the screen fuzzes out.
doh!
So, now I've got a new 520. I've been quite happy overall with RM GPS units. Just wish I was a bit smarter with them!mattbnr Thanks this. -
Thanks,

Mark, I had this issue a few weeks ago and had posted on this site about screen alignment. I borrowed a friends unit and switched screens. My screen that would not stay aligned, did stay aligned in his unit. But after two trips his screen would not stay aligned in y unit. Switched screens back and his unit is fine and mine will not stay aligned. Seems like it would be nice if there was a way to do a full software re-install. And like I had posted a few weeks ago, this occurred after doing a regular update (which I ussualy do every second week or so).

If you are at home and have High speed internet, I can push the files again to you. I use TeamViewer to remote to your computer and also use FileZilla for the FTP client.
You do have the files on your computer already, but as I have mentioned before, if you got a bad download from the Dock Server, then you would be pushing the same files back onto your TND.
Thanks,
MarkSilverShadow Thanks this. -
Let me know what you want me to do and lets get it done. Do you want unit connected or what?
-
I will need the unit connected.
Go to www.teamviewer.com under downloads and install that. Then E-Mail me the ID/PW.
Thanks,

Why does my 510 think I am 200ft to the east of the highway?

If you are say only using 2, then the GPS is only getting a rough idea of your location. The more used, the more it can pinpoint your location.
The road may have been changed and the maps you are on do not reflect the correct location.
The Satellites may be in the process of being moved again. Remember they are in a decaying orbit and have to be bumped back into the intended orbit around the earth from time to time.
Let me know what road you are on and the approx. mile marker.
DOP - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dilution_of_precision_(GPS)
GPS satellites circle the earth twice a day in a very precise orbit and transmit signal information to earth. GPS receivers take this information and use triangulation to calculate the user's exact location. Essentially, the GPS receiver compares the time a signal was transmitted by a satellite with the time it was received. The time difference tells the GPS receiver how far away the satellite is. Now, with distance measurements from a few more satellites, the receiver can determine the user's position and display it on the unit's electronic map.
A GPS receiver must be locked on to the signal of at least three satellites to calculate a 2D position (latitude and longitude) and track movement. With four or more satellites in view, the receiver can determine the user's 3D position (latitude, longitude and altitude). Once the user's position has been determined, the GPS unit can calculate other information, such as speed, bearing, track, trip distance, distance to destination, sunrise and sunset time and more.
Number of satellites visible - The more satellites a GPS receiver can "see," the better the accuracy. Buildings, terrain, electronic interference, or sometimes even dense foliage can block signal reception, causing position errors or possibly no position reading at all. GPS units typically will not work indoors, underwater or underground.

It must have been a realignment as I had several people around the country report this
