If you're not looking to get rich, then you're looking in all the right places!
Your 8 hr/day expectation is a bit unrealistic, though.double yellow, Puppage, LGarrison and 3 others Thank this. -
You'd have to average 70-80 mph to get 500-550 miles per day! Hammer down driver!
NewNashGuy, blairandgretchen and russellkanning Thank this. -

There are things you haven't accounted for... load and unload time, the 14 hour clock, traffic and weather conditions affecting your average speed, the fact that you're looking at companies which govern their trucks to run slow as ####, shippers who receive by appointment only, etc. There'll be days when you can take it nice and easy, and drive for only eight hours (or even less, sometimes), but don't expect it to be the norm.

Pretty funny stuff!
What is an 8 hour day - anyway? Is that like an earth day on Jupiter kind of thing?
Its been 60 hour weeks in 5 days for me - for years. And I thought I had a half decent job. -
ramblingman and sevenmph Thank this.

TruckDuo, blairandgretchen, moneyburner and 1 other person Thank this.

Loads dictates the hrs you drive.Sometimes no hrs for the day somedays half a day then other days a full shift. But Werner,if you rather sit more then drive, thats the company for you.
