Ok, here's the deal...yesterday after I dropped my load in the morning around 9am I had 3 hrs left on my 11 so I set my PTA for the next day at 5am. I left the receiver and found a place to shutdown for the day. About 4 hrs later a preplan was sent to me. LM 480 EM 118 del 3/20/14 07:00. I didn't even look at the load cuz I was going to take the rest of day off. Sometime later a person send a message "please accept the preplan *****" It was not from my DM cuz it was a different name code, and my DM always uses his first name on the qualcomm. Anyway, at this point I still haven't touch anything on my qualcomm to read the messages(the last message I could decipher without opening it. And no, my phone is not setup to receive preplans) The qualcomm shuts off and reloads, now more messages are coming thru so I was expecting something like load removed. Nope, someone accepted the preplan on my behalf and now I'm dispatched with fuel route. Ok, my first reaction is I'm not a happy camper, next I realize to make a fuss could result in getting shutdown the entire day tomorrow(the freight was dead cuz on my way to deliver the load and after dropping it nothing came up on my mac 30's) Here's the kicker, I just got another preplan as I'm typing this, this one pu from the same receiver and t-calls at a terminal, 21 miles away. I read the preplan and I know I'm not going to accept it unless they stack me up with another load. The fact they send that preplan without a backup makes me think someone really has a hard on for me.I've been with swift since 08/2011 and have a squeaky clean record. I'm not sure how far this will escalate but I will stand my ground if I have to. Here's a couple of questions...1. If they force dispatch me again and I refuse with a message like, "to the person who accepted the load on my behalf, you can go pick it up) Could I be terminated for insubordination?2. If they ask me to clean out my truck would they route me to my home terminal or just the closest? Even worse, would they send another driver to recover? No, I would never abandon their equipment but I'm concerned they might take a preemptive strike)If you have knowledge first hand or from another driver please advise, thanks in advance.

You're reading way too much into this. Just tell them you're tired and your PTA was set that way for a reason, take the load off me. Swift is not forced dispatch.

I had this happen a few times and I'm an owner op. What I learned to do after being burned so many times is to not open the messages til my clocks were almost run down and not answer the phone. They made my life hell and I did it right back on them x10. But that was just icing on the cake as it served a purpose anyway as I was trying to run my business in the negative for the past three years for tax purposes.

I had been dispatched on several mac 30 loads after I sent in mac 31 then argued that I had not accepted the loads via mac 9. My driver manager and I went round and round about this many times. I had her remove the loads and send them as preplans that I would then accept so she could learn the proper procedure.

This started a war between us which was fun for a while like reducing my miles down to 1800 a week for over a year and sending me to drug tests 56 miles away and only giving me 1 hour to get there with 2 addresses to the place and reminding me that if I am late that is a drug test refusal..Well the next time I knew they were trying to get ahold of me for a drug test I ran for a whole week dodging them until I was ready to call in.

I've had em call me on the phone and ask if I would take the load and I told them straight out "not til I read the details on the preplan" and boom the load comes through as both a preplan and load assignment. One of their other favorite tricks is to say you 'read' the message just because you touched it on the screen. So like I say, I just learned to not touch the messages or answer the phone.

One time I picked up a light load going 2000 miles, sent my loaded call and took off. about an hour later I hear my phone ringing in the sleeper and 4 messages came thru all asking me to please turn around and go back to Los Angeles and by the time I get there they will have a shipper set up to fill my trailer and not to worry, if they didn't have a shipper set up I should just circle the neighborhood.

I took it as a request and ignored tit as such and kept driving east. Some time later a Load Assignment came through detailing early and late pickups for this extra stop. I called the terminal at lunchtime and spoke to some rookie DM who told me my loaded call looked good lol, probably didn't know how to look at other screens yet. Anyway my DM was livid that I didn't cover that extra pickup a couple days later when I asked her to fix my empty call as the system was trying to say "Not Arrived At Stop" .

This is just the way it was between us all the time a culture of oneupsmanship and cat and mouse games that was always started on their side, I just made sure to get them back anytime they burned me, like the last time when they booked a hazmat load and tried to force it on me which I refused then I was getting calls and messages like crazy as they had no other hazmat drivers within 500 miles to cover this load. I don't mind helping people but if your culture dictates to do whatever it takes to cover loads including lying to drivers sooner or later you are going to regret it.

Some dispatchers have a habit of pushing pretty hard , just run your clock out to its limits so as to not give them any room and they will find some one else to pester .

You said you've worked with Swift since 2011. From things I've read and heard they find reasons to fire people after they have driven for them for over two years cause they like to hire new drivers for cheaper money. Might be time to start quickly filling out job applications and finding another job asap.

I've got 3 years in, with no slowdowns in loads.
When I started my mentor had 6. He is still with Swift and doing well.
There are so many with even more years.

I wonder how the OP could know so many details of the pplan without looking at it on the QC, especially if the phone is not set up to receive the pplans.
And the phone messages won't give you miles, only locations and times.

"the last message I could decipher without opening it." How exactly do you do that?

Also, setting your PTA for 20 hours later is a red flag.
I bet you got a message about setting it more than 12 hours ahead?
But that would be for a company driver, and you sound like an O/O since you use the Mac 30.
Well, unless you are platinum. And if you were that high I doubt you would be worrying about these things.

And if you are an O/O - how could they ask you to clean out your truck?

Wow! Been with Swift over 9 years, guess I better get into the "Wayback Machine" and start looking for work from 7 years ago! ( I wonder if he even knows about the wayback machine and Mr. Peabody and Sherman! LOL)

By the way I know lots of drivers that have been here longer than I have.

Hey scottie, I had the same conversation with my DM before. Once you hit reply to accept a load(1, 2 or 3) off mac 30 you're committed to it. You don't have to send a mac 9. I think sending the mac 9 will just get you dispatched immediately after you empty, rather than having to send a free form message to get dispatched. At least from my observation that's how it works.

I have been told both as far as accepting a load off MAC 30. If after receiving the information, if I find something that I do not agree with, I just cancel and make a phone call. They are supposed to be reworking MAC 30 to give us more info
