It depends on where you live and how fast previous employers return the employment verification info. I was setting up my face to face and physical/drug test in 3 days...others have had it take weeks to months

    Mev and jdrentzjr Thank this.

    Cool

ps: I've never heard of or had a " face to face" (interview im assuming) in my time driving, the company simply verifies the credentials , gives an orientation and off you go into the freight matrix.

    Thanks for the info :)

The answer to this, & many questions, really is found in the first 20 pages of this thread.

My S5 is so small , too small , I appreciate you guys answering my questions. I must get clear of my current job , and I'm trying to avoid CCC if at all possible...my mom and brother are even pulling for me to get on at Poly

since Poly isn't like any other trucking company you've worked for (most likely) you'll find that many of the things they do here are much different than any other place you've worked.

    Mev Thanks this.

I have a question for my fellow Poly's....when you drop/hook in Waller and they give you a copy of your in/out scale ticket....do you include that with the paperwork you turn in? Sometimes I do...sometimes I don't, just wondering what everyone else did.

Can you reveal some these things you mention (?) , ive withstood some pretty insane stuff since i been doing this driving gig , but i'd like to know some of their quirky ways .

(I noticed their CSA score is near perfect , this tells me they dont expect any funny business when it comes to running legal ( i myself run 100% legal and am on paper logs )

If i can make 2000 miles a week i will be ahead of my current situation

    How are their trucks specked ? .... 8 spd . 9 speed , Auto ?

    APU ?

Idle time limits ? (Laredo is actually Hell if you hadn't noticed , its hot )

    Info please .....

You stay under the same trip number until you return to GP (or pick up at another of our production plants)

You are paid for extra stops on almost every trip. (You give up the 1st 2...as in 1 stop delivery and a backhaul pickup, after that you are paid extra).

They pay by the hub, without making you stick to their routes...including your miles to home for home time.

They don't tell you where to fuel (at least not the specific location, we do have a fuel book we have to choose from)

You have to have your weights right before you leave the plant(s)...and it is 12,000, 34,000, 34,000.

You are treated like a person, and in a polite professional manner...

Trucks leaving the GP or Henderson yard have to have a bobtail pass to leave...you don't just drive out.

They fly you in for your interview and orientation (if necessary).

We only haul other people's products about 1/2 the time...the other half it is our own product headed to deliver.

We NEVER go to California. ..EVER. (screw the commies)

They pay you $50 a month for your phone bill.

They reimburse for cleaning supplies to keep the inside of the truck clean

We seldom use the qualcomm...they prefer doing things by phone.

As far as being able to get 8000 miles a month...I took 7 days off this month again and will have around 6000 by the time I get to GP tomorrow or Thursday.

As far as equipment...Prostar midroof, some have a double bunk...Cummins powered mostly (we have some Maxxfarce powered). Some have Dynasys APU's...some have the International battery pack HVAC, some have the Clima-Cab battery HVAC. Idle restrictions...nope...as long as your fuel mileage stays over 6 mpg...they don't care. They will install a driver provided inverter up to 1500 watts (driver provides cables too).

    jdrentzjr and Mev Thank this.
