Thats pretty cool Spyder! Yeah flatbeding is awhole other world. The customers are friendly and the there's a camaraderie with the drivers thats lacking on van side.

So get this. Last week a 4wheeler tries to take off my bumper, calls the cops and tries to blame it on me. This week, someone popped the lock on my fuel tank and trailer box AND opened my passenger side door, WHILE I WAS ASLEEP inside the truck! yaaaay! Thinking about putting an alarm on the truck.

Can't wait to see what next week brings!

Been here @ mercer about 20 months. have seen every trick in the book. 1 in 6 listed loads disappear after dispatch, the night before load date. (you will not receive truck called not used, kiss you bump mileage goodbye). There west coast board is not fcfs as advertised, so don't go there. The company you hear about before 2010 is vastly different than the one they are today. If you owe anything on your rig, don't come here. Their doors are revolving faster everyday. They do offer lots of cheap freight and do give good discounts. However it is an expensive company to stay on with. Everything about you rig, you record and yourself has to be maintained. Thought you'd like to know.

You are right, it is not the same company it was 10-15 years ago. It was unbelievably Great then. Times have changed. When I signed on they only had about 600 trucks. It was very hard to lease on back then. Back then they would have rejected most of the applications they approve today.

Times have changed and they have grown to over 2000 trucks. Today they have to go thru a lot of trucks in order to find the few that fit and will succeed. Being an owner operator is a very hard business. For some Mercer is just a bad fit for them, but they will succeed some place.

But for most the business is just to tough and they will fail where ever they go. This is just my observation and opinion after being an owner operator for the last 28 years and the last 25 years with Mercer.

If we have so much "cheap" freight, then I'm all for Mercers cheap freight. Mercer is what I pictured my dream company to lease on with. If you think it's so bad here, jump ship and go somewhere else. It's really bad at other places. As far as west coast freight, the Stockton agent has been very nice to me ( I live in NorCal) and has even called to apologize for the long time it took to get loaded last Friday.

hey, you missed the proper thread, go to the one that says WHY DO SOME FAIL AT MERCER read it all especially spyders post, hopefully you will learn something and help yourself out.

and I can hardly believe that a company would have the nerve to expect some to keep their rig, their record and and personal appearance in tip top shape.

I do that easily as I regular maintain my truck, am meticulous about my driving habits and speed, and the personal part is easy , as I am just naturally a good lookin joker.

and after 3 and half years, I love it, I came here in jan 2011, if it was any better than this before 2010 I couldn't have stood it. I ride around now sitting on my hands to keep from clapping
