you're not sitting around. Once you know when you will be arriving and available in Grand Prairie, you call Outbound and put yourself on that days board...even if you are on a backhaul from Maine or Washington...you call as far ahead as you can.

Maj...you may want to make sure they didn't forget you. Planned that far ahead, the list with your name on it might have been misplaced.

i think its slow, was at gp and a bunch of drivers talkin bout gettn loads 2 or 3 days after the day they were on board.

 

or there were more drivers available than usual in the middle of the wk

 

That is another part of what makes Poly different from most trucking companies. The driver is in charge of planning his/her time, at least on the Outbound side of things. On home time and Outbound the driver decides when to head out...providing there is freight.

I may be on Saturdays board...but with the carryover miles from last month, I'll have 6350 miles for the month when I turn in this loads paperwork tomorrow...and that was with time off...I'll have that many miles because I didn't get to GP before the end of the month last month, I ended up with 9200 miles, and 3800+ turned in on the 1st day of this month. So instead of a 13,000 mile April and 2500+ this month so far...it balanced everything out.

 

I'm gona celebrate...I've gone a whole month without breaking my phone...whoooooohoooo!

 

So then once your loaded you advise them when you will be delivering ?
They don't "backseat drive" you like most carriers?

Outbound means a load out of a Poly plant ?

 

Yep, Outbound is our product leaving the plants. Appointments on our big accounts...Wally/Sam's, Lowes etc...Poly sets them. But, you tell them what day you are ready to be offered Outbound loads. A day or so before then, they call and run down the list of Outbound loads they have available...And once you accept and pick up the load, you tell them when you'll be available for a backhaul...so if the delivery is going to take most of your day's hours and you won't be able to pick up anything until you take your break...backhaul will book a load for what ever day you say you will be empty and available. Then once you get your Outbound delivered, and you get your backhaul info(you usually have the broker info and the pu/del locations a day ahead of time, but some of the brokers won't tell you specifics until you are calling them empty), and if it the backhaul delivers near the DFW area, before you do anything else, you call Outbound and tell them when you are ready for the next Outbound load after the backhaul is delivered...the sooner you call the better.

It sounds confusing typing it out here, but once you do it a few times, it makes sense.

 

yes outbound is a load out of plant, everything else is a backhaul.

outbounds either have sched appts for big dcs like walmart or u set deliveries for mom and pop(mom/pop is anything other than a major dc, 84 lumber could b mom/pop.

backhaul appt times are given by broker or may be fcfs or can be dropped at poly plant if approved

when u know when ur final delivery will be u put in for a backhaul when ur available

when u know u will b back to a poly plant u put urself on outbound board

all this has been posted on this thread before but im bored so i will repeat it
