We all know the turnover rate for drivers is at 100% but I wonder what the turn over rate is for students that don't succeed with their trainer is.I never hear of companies that truly wants the trainee to succeed. They could care less as to why if a trainee hits something he or she is automatically guilty.Sure safety will call u in and wonder what happened but chances are they're just wasting their time talking to safety. We've all been where the op is at.As a trainee its easier said then done when it comes to the trainer wanting u to do something u feel you're not ready for.Thats why I have empathy for the op.Some trainees learn at a faster pace then others.Op felt he wasn't ready and any trainer should respect that. There's plenty of time to learn backing. No need to rush.

Ha, ha...I was telling some kid the other day about how in the mid 80's a lot of the bigger truck stops had telephone rooms with about 20-30 wall phones that were direct dial phones to different dispatches and brokers. The kid looked at me like I was from the ice age. BTW...I still use a watch (with hands) and I had to stop at a jeweler the other day to get the crystal replaced when I broke using a wrench that slipped on a bolt.
rocket jockey 80 Thanks this. -

Places like that are a refreshing stop when you get used to TA's, Pilots or Love's around the bigger cities. Way better service too. I used to stop at a small place on I-65 in AL like that. It wasn't really a full service truck stop, just a nice little store that sold diesel next to a mom-n-pop motel. The gal working there in the morning would always give me free coffee and called me "hun". Sometimes it's the little stuff that keeps me coming back.

Yeah I've literally never paid for coffee and they pump your fuel and wash your windows. They do cater to cow trucks, and since I quit hauling cows they give me a hard time about it. Like you said it's nice to go in there and be treated with respect like what they use to do for drivers in the old days
