do teams make more money than solo drivers?

    No offense to women but all the botched up parking jobs I see are usually committed by them.

    I've been teaming with my wife for almost a year and I don't like it. I did get to train her (small carrier) and we gross $18-2K a week. IMHO running continuously is very unhealthy. I'm trying to think of the upside.....yeah, got a spotter and never worry about running out of hrs or where to park, but it's not something I'd want to do forever. Unless.......the pay was WAY more!

    we've talked with many h/w teams where the wife does NO backing...husband has to do it all. To each his own but I will do my own backing and do a good job...and let my tired hubby sleep!...

    A lot of people go into truck driving to be SOLO. There is nothing wrong with teaming for someone who likes and enjoys it. How ever, many people function much better being SOLO.

    It is one thing to have a trainer with you. You need to be trained as well as possible to be able to function as a SOLO driver. It could be that the training may take additional time. In a case as this, SAFETY takes priority. However, it is another thing if someone is with a "partner" or team driver for long extended periods of time

    As any truck driver will tell you, truck driving is a very stressful job, that requires 100% concentration and focus. If a team driver is in with the wrong "partner", the stress can seriously increase by God knows how many times.

    Stress is often much easier to handle or manage when one is going at it ALONE, vs. having someone with you who may decide to "take charge", "take over", or "harshly get onto you", and not let you handle the situation at all, or in a way that best suits you.

    The stress may not always be driving related, but could also be at the truck stops or at the shipping and receiving plants. The "partner" or team driver may be taking the role of being your "boss" or "supervisor".

    For many people, a "partner" or a team driver is NOT always an asset.

    Not to mention trust is a HUGE FACTOR....I remember having a hard time sleeping because I wondered if my co driver was safe

    Read the numbers at trucking companies that run both solo and teams, there are not more miles per a driver in team. So, unless they are paying more for team miles, there is no benefit in running teams. It seams many companies hold out on teams, saving them to rescue a load that is running late.

    Of course the stats can change if you can land a good dedicated run than can take advantage of a team. However expect to have no life outside the truck and sleeping then.

    I just sleep anyways. I figure if he is unsafe i will die anyways. And it is better to die in your sleep. ;)

    Husbands, or team drivers, that do all the backing, are not doing their partner any favors. Eventually they are going to have to back into a tough spot and tear something up.

    The only way I would agree to teams is if the pay was way better, and the truck was a 150" studio
