Try the trailer brake switch first 99% it'll hold the brakes better then the pedal. Also that is what the shop will tell you to try first.

I apologize but I can not offer any meaningful advice. My short stint as and O/O was with detroit which never failed me. My oldest son is and O/O with about 10 years and he wouldn't have anything but detroit. My years of experience includes 2 mega carriers that ran and assortment of engines and other than the old detroits you could tell very little difference. Was told on friday my new truck coming will have a dd15 so who knows. I honestly believe engines are more,"luck of the draw" than how you treat them.

I feel ya DFO... I baby my truck also. I drive 60mph, I get my pm done at 12k, i try not to carry anything over 30klbs. Even though I don't have an APU, I only idle truck maybe 2 hrs or less a day. I'm looking to keep this truck for a long time.

Hey DFO, I'm a newbie and have been following your thread, very interesting read, learning alittle here and there. But an confused on something - " Jill wanted me to goatpath but it was only saving me 20 miles so I just ran the easy way. " What does 'JILL' mean? Or is this a person?

It will really depend on the truck, and it is something you will need to look carefully for when looking at potential trucks. For example my truck is a 2011 but has an EPA 07 engine which is the CM871. The newest one is EPA 2010 which is the CM2250. I'm not sure exactly what dates they were manufactured in, just the EPA standards they met at the time. I THINK the CM871 started being available in 08 so you might be able to find one in an 08 truck, but I'm not positive on that.

In short - CM870 - me personally would avoid - believe this had just EGR but no DPF
CM871 - I have this one now and it has been incredibly reliable and easy to work on but has a finnicky EGR system that has to be kept clean and likes to be tinkered with - it does have EGR and a DPF but does not use DEF
CM2250 - newest ISX, I have no experience with this one... - this one has EGR/a DPF and uses DEF

Yes its just stupid. Had I known it was just overdue on inspection I would have drug it straight to Obetz and had them do the inspection here, instead of stopping through Charlotte and sitting for 2 hours like I did. But looks like the Obetz shop is closed on the weekend so that wouldn't have worked anyway lol.

If you have a trolley valve go ahead and dump all the air you can to those brakes and you bet they will hold.

If no valve like moosc said use the brake hold switch

Make sure a pin isn't stuck too... if so might have to grab the big screwdriver and yank the spring out lol.

You never know where Jill will send you... lol. I believe it comes from the fact that the "Microsoft Jill" voice is used to narrate the directions provided by Navigo which is what SNI uses for their company routing.

    ===

I finally made it to Obetz. What a frickin long day. Left SC stopped through Charlotte to see why my trailer was marked OOS. Overdue inspection. Took 2 hours to complete.

Then leave Charlotte sit in traffic on 77 north.

Then hit VA and sit for over an hour never getting out of low range to go like 6 miles from 77 split to the first tunnel.

    Enter tunnel at 5 MPH

Leave other side doing 55 MPH

Dumb *** 4 wheelers getting scared was literally the problem. No accidents, no lane closures, they were literally getting scared in the tunnel and caused a 6 mile backup. Oh. My. God.

Then they get scared on the Turnpike too. Get scared and slow down in every corner. Sh** their pants when they are next to my truck and can't decide if they want to pass me or not. So they try to pass me on the straightaway then realize their 4 cyl honda civic cannot hang with the Cummins up the other side of the grade and now I'm pulling away from them through the corners with a trailer in the right line. They are so stupid.

Then the toll booths... OMG. Somebody had the idea to shut down ALL EZPASS LANES on the 2nd toll booth so there is no fast way to get through. I choose the correct lane 400 other 4wheelers decide now is the time to try to pass the slow truck. Nope. I roll through cause EZPASS is still working then drop the hammer as soon as I'm clear and they caNNOT OUT ACCELERATE THE ISX as I fill their windows with the lovely smell of diesel fuel as the ISX starts a rolling regen while I accelerate.

This repeats for what seems like an eternity. I would have simply said **** it and cruised at 50 MPH but I was running out of time, had to average at least 55 to get here without running out of hours thanks to all the delays.

Finally reach US-35 which now has the speed limit bumped up to 70 MPH once it goes 4 lanes so I cruise at 70 for a while until I catch up on all the lost time, then drop back to DFO cruising altitude of 60 MPH once I knew I could make it to Obetz on time.

Roll into Obetz and crawl through the yard looking for a spot of course none are available. Blocking a trailer everywhere I would be. So finally managed to wedge into the back at some odd angle then kept on reversing back into the black hole of decommissioned trailers. Will probably be totally blocked in tomorrow, we will see. Hopefully people see my truck.

Go into Chez Obetz resort and get a hotpocket from the vending machine. Actually not bad. Then decide to get ice cream for desert. Out of 1s so i put a 5 in the machine. No problem except it now dispenses 4 dollars worth of change... in dimes.

Anyway, stomach full, pocket full of dimes, nice night... I'm going to bed I obviously need some sleep... hope what I typed above is actually coherent lol
