Wow moosc I have spent lots of time trying to actually understand split logging including reading threads on here. Your examples were the first that I have actually been able to make sense of and now I understand it a lot better. Thanks!!

Well after 4 hours my trailer was finally ready and I headed west. I had planned to stop at one of the service plazas along the Ohio turnpike, but I got to the last one that I could stop at and it was full!! Couldn't believe it. I even looped around to see if there was a spot SOMEWHERE but every single one was full. A couple people were parked extra on the ends of the rows, I almost did this, but it makes me nervous that someone might hit my truck or trailer coming around the turn, and I would be at fault since I was technically parked where I shouldn't be.

So I kept going on and saw some truckstops at my next exit, luckily someone answered on the CB and told me where there was still room and I got stopped with about 20 left on the 14. I don't like pushing it that close unless I have a guaranteed place to park! First time I've had that happen in a long time.

Off to the delivery just north of Detroit tomorrow, then a short load down to OH, then will probably spend the night at Seville... been a while since I've been to that craphole.

RB I've only ever pulled a load OUT of there once, and honestly it was so long ago I can't remember the weight. I take loads INTO there all the time and they vary from 15 to 35k. i think it is one of those places that can wildy vary with load weights. If you do decide to get this load the only good way into that place is to take exit 240 off of I-81, go straight through town through the college, when you get to the light to make the right turn, take the entire left turn lane and buttonhook the living **** out of that corner, its a crappy one. I like going in there at night, daytime can be a PITA.

Busy but good day racking up toll charges all over I-80 lol. Stopped last night south of Toledo, today I first headed up to my delivery in a town north of detroit that is still pretty much detroit but whatever it has a different name... luckily got the last empty trailer there, and then went 10 miles south closer to detroit (but still not detroit according to the city name lol) and picked up my auto parts. After that back on 80 and head east to the delivery, drop and hook there. Nasty weather today that is for sure.

Then bobtailed over to the Seville OH dropyard to pick up my relay which is headed to NC. Hopped on 76 put the hammer down and cruised 67 the whole way. This entire week I have not been sticking to my 60 MPH cruising speed at ALL... all this flat ground and wide open roads have me doing a lot of 66-67 MPH lol. I sure do make good time doing that though. Probably worked out for the best because I pounded out a lot of miles today and when I hopped on the load board was able to snag a load that I was hoping would show up (it always seems to pull through for me!) that I will pick up after delivering in NC tomorrow, and get ready to head down to GA.

Haven't found anything out of there yet though, it'll probably either be something up to OH or maybe I will finally take some time off. Been having too much fun running around to go home yet through, when these good loads keep popping up I just keep saying "ok ok just 1 more load" and next thing you know a week has gone by LOL. Hell almost time for another PM on my truck already. Oil sample came back good running 25k intervals on oil vs 15k, but I think I am still more comfortable with 15k.

I've gotten as high ast 9.5 to 10 mpg with this 2012 running on flat desert with a light load... I try to run 60 ish, sometimes 65. But Running 70 in the right circumstances doesn't seem to affect the mpg (flat ground, light load). These new trucks are great...

As to the Oil change intervals, I feel uncomfortable with 25k as well. The mechanics claim the different oil enables it to be longer, but I told my parents about that, and they were horrified. Receptive to the posiblity but still VERY uncomfortable with it. They were like, if your planning on keeping the truck, you want it to last as long as possible, so more often changes make more sense in that respect.

I'd love to find out what a self lube system costs, the chip trucks I used to drive all had them, and they were added on by the company at their various shops.
Also, I was at the Bosselman shop somewhere, and they had a suposedly "Better" wheel ballancer (like centermatics), googling them the company claims to use Mercury instead of sand or other stuff that can become froze up with time. They seemed pretty reasonable actually, as they include wheel balancing in the cost, which they price at 50$, and they take that off the price of the balancers. (Not Bosselman I think, but the manufacturer.).

Not me. Got two loads that pay good, even though at the end I won't have a lot, but it will cover the payments and fuel. Ending on the 2nd, and a long week home going back out on the 9th.
Spent last 4th of July making drops for my former unappreciative employers, missed spending it with my family, not going to miss the 4th this year. Going to get the truck into the body shop for repairs that SFI said they will make that were pre-existing while I'm home if I can get it into the shop at the first of the week.
Got to finish moving out of my house and probably helping my gf move too....

But it will be a good week away from this madhouse of crazy drivers and stressing about loads, and when I come back I'm not coming home til the snow flies.

    :)
