I use PagePlus as well (through Kitty Wireless). PagePlus is a Verizon MNVO and it uses the Verizon Pre-Paid network (charges you if you roam). That is not usually a big deal, but if you run through KY on I-65 or through some other areas, you will loose your talk ability but you can still text.
An alternative to Page+ is Selectel Wireless. They are another Verizon MNVO but for what ever the reason, they are able to use the full-blown Verizon contract network. As a result, you can freely talk in the areas where Page+ won't.
The base cost of each plan for the two pre-paid providers is the same, the difference is in how much data you are allowed. You can get up to 5 GB with P+ and only 2 GB with Selectel.
Personally, I don't use data on my phone, so that is no issue to me but I enjoy great customer service and a 10% discount by going through Kitty Wireless. My Unlimited Talk and Text with 1 GB data is $35.96 OTD.
Verizon VS AT&T, which one?

They.do.not piggy back on each other. AT&T is GSM technology and Verizon is CDMA. Two completely different cell phone technologies. Ive had both since I started driving. AT&T will do you fine but Verizon does have better overall coverage. But Verizon is slightly more expensive. AT&T will cut off your roaming data of you use to much while roaming. Most phones dont show your roaming anymore since talk roaming is free.

Verizon seems to have the "best" coverage in outlining and fringe areas, but AT&T is spending millions every year to add more and more cell towers. Eventually AT&T will probably have coverage that's close or equal to Verizon, but not today.

Need to watch also when you change devices... My wife went from a IPhone 5 to a S5,,, I asked if the plan I was on stayed the same...yep.. got home and her mother called several times... Her mother is in the Phil. So my wife called and found out that part of the plan for international calling was dropped... amazing... called and found the rate went up by $1.00... was offered some $$$ to just switch to the new plan... not happy about that, but the money offered was about eight years worth of me paying another $1.
so if you switch devices, check everything on your plan before you leave the store... -
Verizon is the best in my opinion, and you can still get unlimited everything by buying a grandfathered contract on Ebay
-
Contracts are not transferrable between users.
I could not transfer my unlimited from one device to another newer device. -
They told me the same thing about if I got another, newer phone that I would not be able to keep my unlimited data plan. So I keep this old phone as long as possible. Or, maybe if it completely craps out on me, and they want to play hardball, then I take a hard look at other phone companies.
-
can't you just buy a new phone retail price and switch out the sim card?
-
I am sure there are ways to do that, but really doesn't seem like something I should be attempting .... I know some about computers but cell phones ... ehhhhh .....
-
Verizon does not use sim cards.
