Hello everyone I am 21 and I want to start truck driving.. I have never driven a semi truck before so I don't have my cdl.. What is a good company for me? I have a clean driving record, great work history Ecuador only been at my current job since I gratuated.. USA truck age limit to get into the CDL school program is 22/:

Your age will limit your choices right now, since most companies want you to be 23 for insurance purposes. Do your research, find a company that will take 21/22 yr olds and go from there. But be forewarned: the path to a full fledged truck driving man will be very windy.

Well I know swift u have to be 23 and USA truck u have to be 22, I don't care about JB hunt right now bc I called and they do not send non CDL holders to school bc they don't have a school. So what other companies will pay for my school if I sign a contract..? I just don't have $4500 to pay out of pocket, plus I need to be on a payroll while going to school because I have a family to support. Which I heard if the company sends u to school they will also be paying you trainers pay while in school.

What do you mean when companies take out loans? You mean when a company sends you to their truck school? If so, you are on a conditional job offer. Which means if you pass truck school and the DMV test they will hire you and move further along with training and orientation. However, when a company offers to send you to truck school and pay for it they have you sign a contract. Anywhere from 8 months to 1 year? around there.... Anyway, if you choose this option which "almost" everyone does be sure to finish that contract or they can "black-ball" you from trucking. In other words if you quite or get fired while a "Student Contract" driver no other companies will hire you.

I did company sponsored training. 5 1/2 years later I am still trucking... Its difficult starting out and pay usually is laughable but, you have to start off at the bottom to get to the top.

And no, no credit checks.... if you fail, quite, or get fired you simply earn a new debt of 3-6k+....

A recent post stated Schneider now partners with a private CDL school; call and ask.

JBS Carriers partners with Roadmaster, so call them also.

Southern Refrigerated Transport, call them; have their own CDL school but it's not on the website.
