Typical military / government. Unless it's a small move I'll pass. It's like working to get a tax refund, you're paying yourself if you think about it. Lol

that's for the same government that says they really only want us to work a total of 8 hours a day, right?

when I pulled out this morning at least 100 trucks in line , that's was just up at k av and artillery rd. probably a all day wait for sure, and after the rain its a mudhole in the loading area

Can I assume they are NOT going to pay detention? Can you imagine what that would cost for all those trucks, not that their poor planning and execution of the move should be an acceptable reason not to pay it.

Detention, in my opinion, is the single biggest issue we need to address when it comes to revenue and hours of service. If I'm getting paid $100/hr to sit I don't care if I'm there all week and I'll be glad to log it all on duty if they want. No cheap freight, and no free time.

I got paid for five days detention once pulling tanks, and got them to put me up in a hotel and pay for meals too. Pool guy was on vacation and I worked that for the hotel all week for cash. Best week I ever had in trucking.

I don't know how they would figure it if they did, no real way to tell when folks got there. some days are like that, it happens from time to time. it was just a case of a bunch of trucks, bad ### rainstorms rolling in from time to time. cant really say whose fault it may have been, but at least the trucks had sleepers and a/c . the soldiers were doing all they could. the vast majority had patches showing they had been deployed at some point. waiting to load aint a big deal in comparision.

I do know those guys had been up at 5am went to 1 am and started back this morning at 6:30 am. they don't get dentention or overtime pay either.

besides these guys I loaded for were part of a calvary unit, as I myself am. they even loaded me with a 4.2 mortar trailer , brought back memories for this old mortarman.

So Glad I'm not there again. I did my turn there in Ft. Polk about 2 weeks ago and it was most of the day getting unloaded but only about 7 hours.
