I live in the Southwest.
Once I'm done with class and I have my CDL in hand I will be hired with one of the many "starter" companies. I understand full well that they all suck but are a necessary step to gaining experience so as to eventually get hired at a good trucking company. (All of the really good ones are required by their insurance companies to only hire "experienced" drivers)
With that in mind, I thought I would fill out applications to many of these starter companies so I can receive some pre-hire letters from them. That way I can have a choice of which starter companies to train with. I want to be able to choose the one that sucks the least.
Do they all suck equally. If not, which ones suck less?
Which starter companies suck the least?

Personally, I started out with a "Mega" carrier to gain the Regional/OTR experience. (I went with Averitt) But it also depends on your needs. I.E. Home time, location, of course starting pay, etc...
At least with a big company like Averitt, Schneider, Maverick, Crete, etc... you can gain the needed knowledge without having to do it the hard way. They have the methods down, so learn from them and then if need be, move later on down the road to a company that suits your needs.Wild Murphy Thanks this. -
CRST and CR England have a negative coefficient vacuum drag ratio of 1:23,765,000.

BTW, I would be based out of Tucson, Arizona and I intend to have all the endorsements, including Hazmat -
I liked Roehl. Very safety conscious and, in general, treat you well. Not sure if they have a terminal out that way. Just hope you don't get a truck with a voodoo hex on it. You'll be stuck with it much longer than you want.
Lux Prometheus Thanks this. -
Averitt, Crete for Van
TMC, Maverick for flatbed
