Inside deliveries with no lift gate and having to break the skid down is also a pain. Some places I don't mind as they either give you water, or a smack etc.

brandonpdx where you working now since leaving ABF. did you go to YRC? I know they were hurting over there for guys.

    Marksteven Thanks this.

Meh. Our P&D work dock combo and fill trailers in the morning. No way could I do it. Just way too much thinking and planning involved with getting the freight off of and onto trailers.

Either way. Hat is off to you guys. Not for being forklift ninjas, not for being a bunch of badasses on backing, or making less than line. But being able to put up with the stupidity of four-wheeler city traffic full time is a feat of its own. Now that I think about it, I don't think that I will ever leave line.

Not doing anything at the moment but honestly I think I might be ready for a different direction anyway. ABF was my 4th LTL job in the last 2.5 years and I kind of don't want a 5th. A lot of BS around here too with the off truck route tickets, low clearances and wires, narrow streets, etc. I'd rather drive package car for UPS or FedEx. Similar money without all the big-truck hassles. Post office driving job would be good too. Maybe take another hard look at fuel hauling. Something to get out of the rut and shake things up a little.

Meh.. Had a good run. Two weeks without triples. Now I get to pull one back home. On a side note... Look at what I brought in. Never seen them before. Heard there was a USF Dugan and Glen Moore at some point as well. Anyone up to give me a quick history lesson on what happened to these guys? Guessing they all consolidated at some point.... But kinda curious when it all happened.

Dude I feel your pain, every unknown delivery, especially when you don't have a route is like planning a mission. I used to have to stop, pull out my truck route map and try to find the closest exit to the truck route, then worry about low bridges, narrow streets. Peddling in NYC is a beast and that is probably why I went to linehaul and never looked back. Just thinking about it makes me cringe.

But like Marksteven said, UPS Parcel is on a push to hire a huge number of TT drivers. If you check the career section of the UPS website, almost every big city is hiring. look into it. And good luck with whatever you end up doing.

Glen Moore was sold. And Dugan went out when YRC took over. They also had a Redstar as well. They went under due as well

Good info. Thanks mate! By going under... you mean they were just absorbed by Reddaway and Holland? Or did they just went into a terminal closing frenzy and they just shut down shop all together?
