I just got mine out of the shop last wek, one of the things they recommended was a crankcase filter. I forgot about it til i read your post so swooped into KW and bought a new one today.

My question is what is involved with changing it? Is it pretty easy?

Well I have an international so I don't know about KW, but it was super easy and quick just remove ten 10 mm bolts jiggle the cover off after that and swap out filters...no mess on mine either....rebolt it back together...and no more dash alerts or warning she still sucking fuel like a pig tho grrrrrr.....took about 15 min to do total ...good luck

I meant to say I have a Cummins I think you do too. Sounds easy though.

As far as our fuel economy, go for the easy stuff first like air filters and fuel filters. Might have to get a Dyno done to make sure al the injectors are functioning etc.

It's a pay me now or pay me later ... Since you've never had your dpf system and sensors serviced, you're probably building up soot ... if your back pressure sensor gets gummed up enough your turbo won't kick in or worse you will derate to limp mode and be crawling along on the shoulder at 20mph ...

If you haven't already, read this thread http://www.thetruckersreport.com/tr...3-cummins-isx-cm871-technical-discussion.html

Yes I read that plus rawzes other posts on the internet.....that's why I was hoping getting diagnostic done on her would have revealed that in the fault codes but it didn't yet.....I need time to pull the imap sensor and the delta p sensor......before I go to bigger job like the dpf filter.....what is the big expense with baking the dpf filter? The labor?

Dealer charged me about $1800 for the a complete servicing, bake and test the dpf, clean the doc filter, the pre igniter and cleaning the sensors.

I made that back in a couple of months in improved fuel mileage.
