I believe they do require it yes. Often times with terminal loads, you and they even don't know what all is going to be loaded onto the trailer, they only know the destination and they are trying to gather up enough freight to fill a truckload or 3. I remember once agreeing to take a terminal load, then was informed they only had 20,000 pounds on the dock, and were searching for more weight and freight to fill the trailer, that is what sucks about the terminal loads, sometimes have to sit around waiting for them to say it is full enough to go.

RRTS seems like a good place to work. Keep us updated please.

Scottie, do you make a good living there?

Well things were coming together nicely headed up to get trailer to drop in Indy and then pu load, no problem, then the engine def light came on and engine derated, so when I get out I notice the wheel seal is leaking like a sieve. Hard to believe it got a good dot insp and they missed that, anyway truck to peterbilt for repair waited 4 hours for ride home. Unsure if I can take tues load or not. It seems like this is going to be pretty good running and pay. They pay 92% on most loads approved brokers pay as soon as u scan paperwork in by friday pay by the next friday. It is a true independent contractor relationship. You pay for everything and I mean everything. They take a % of any advances you take including for fuel so I will be paying for fuel in a different way and that then causes me to lose the fuel discount. However I do have a discount card that is not to bad No deductions untill the second week after you pull your first load that is nice.

Door signs 20.00 Just an example of paying for everything. You would be far better off charging fuel and paying it off every month than to take their advance. Everyone has been very good so far this is the LL world and it is something I will have to get used to as a driver.most freight is same day call it in pick it up so it makes planning very difficult they never know if they will have a load or not untill half way thru the day. but for monday out of Indy they have 8 loads and only two are covered so far so that is good monday is the slowest day in LTL most places as far as outbound. Well thats enough for now man I hope the truck breaking down on day 1 is not an omen.

Have only been at RR for about 5 months, but so far so good.

john, it is an omen of good things to come. My truck broke down on the very first load too, still in the same truck 3.5 years later.

I like that Indy yard, they have electrical outlets for the bobtails. I was able to plug in and run my A/C without having to refuel the generator every few hours which was nice.

I ran 3800 miles this week although only 2200 of it will go to settlement next week due to not being able to scan the paperwork in in time.

Seattle to Dallas/Fort Worth, Dallas to Vegas/Fresno. Called my planner about any possible Livermore loads, will be dropping my trailer in Liv Saturday morning and going home while they load it for Seattle. which I can pick up Sunday night.

PS they caught me going out the gate and offered me a few hundred bucks to reload here in Fresno and take to Livermore so I don't have to deadhead for no pay.

I used to live less than a mile from the indy yard about 40 miles now. Well fortunately I was prepared for the worst to happen. For some reason it is always a struggle to get going.

Yes there is no difference. technically the way they do it is not a lease purchase they try to tie you up contractually to only work for them. But you are financing the truck thru a volvo subsidiary and they are cosigner. If you are interested they do report to a credit bureau but it is truck specific not one of the big three. The only difference I have ever seen on pay L/O v O/O is on a sign on bonus

A driver I was talking to told me that you can pick whatever truck you'd like, do they run credit? Mine isn't the greatest while I'm driving company now my ultimate goal is to be my own boss and have my own truck. I'm working on getting my credit repaired but how does the truck buying process go? Your making payments to the dealer I assume and not RR?
