Ok, does having a down payment help in the selection of trucks? I'm saving up between 15-20k before I do anything, but I would like a newer truck and a trailer aswell. My ultimate goal is to run my own circus. I've been educating myself as much as possible and also saving money. I won't do a lease with any company as it just doesn't seem to benifet me as much as it could. Not to get to personal but what could I expect bring home to be on a average week? I run hard and stay out 3-4 weeks, I'll go anywhere aslong as it pays good. I do know that being on % it's not about running hard, but smart. And in the next year or 2 I hope to be ready to make the change.

Well first load out Indy To Seattle nice run pays decent del sun they already called and have me lined up for back to Indy. There is a definite learning curve here, and you need to have a good understanding of trucking or it's going to be much harder. So far it seems that they want to keep you in the dark so that you will pull terminal freight which benefits them greatly. You can make money doing that so I will not rock the boat yet.The def system on this truck is still not right but its working for now.Man after six months off I rolled about 670 miles today and I am beat, feels like my legs are jello. First time in 20 plus years I am taking my dog with me so far so good.

Well I'm sitting in Oregon can't del until tonight. Then up to Seattle to final and pu on tuesday. Sitting for a day on a load that has a little to much time on it. But ok for first load out after six months off. However I'm a little ticked off and maybe I am off so you guys tell me if I am missing something here. Here are the facts I pu Tuesday night in Indiana they do not communicate well here, you just have to figure it out. No idea when I del in Portland 2300 plus miles away. On the manifest it says del expected AT 1800 8/10. Now everywhere I have worked a live unload that has a date and time is an appt. Also the place is closed from Friday at 1300 until 1800 Sunday. One more thing I know I wont reload until Tues.
Now Im not going to make fri by 1300 so I am cruising along getting good fuel mileage making my check calls etc when on Friday I get a call "why are you in Evanston Wy?" Well sh$% I thought I screwed up maybe I was supposed to go to Portland Maine. So I say well where should I be "well you should be delivering today" my reply was you need to think that thru a little and quit burning up my minutes.
Should I have run it thru and del friday burning fuel at 5.9 instead of 8.1? only to sit in seattle till Tuesday? I don't know but I can tell you one thing talking to me with an attitude will get you back an attitude you won't like. Oh well it is beautiful out here sitting here looking out at the river about 100 miles from del cruise on in and wait for them to get there. Would you have run this load differently?scottied67 Thanks this. -

That customer in Portland, (on a different run out of Livermore) I was scheduled on the paperwork to arrive at 0230. I know they close at 0600 so I figured anytime before they close and I'm good. I got there at 0500 and checked in. Unloaded at 0900 and got a call a couple days later from corporate asking why I was 6 hours late. evidently, it is not the time you arrive that counts as ontime, it is the time that you're empty and paperwork signed approved and counted by the customer. Personally I think it is just a little trick they use to deny the drivers the $0.04 cents safety bonus at the end of the quarter. Late load, failed CSA inspection or log violations etc can deny that money.johnn5272000 and The Challenger Thank this. -
Picking up in the am for dallas we will see how it goes getting loaded in dallas oh well if I can get by till I figure this craziness out I think it will be good First load out tells me do not deliver on weekend or monday. I am afraid the sitting time may be more than what I am used to and if that is the case i will for sure be pulling other freight instead of waiting on them to load something 2 days later nice long haul though. to early to complain actually looks like it might be pretty good.
