Though I've yet to see any Mercer trucks rolling smoke, even with tuned up. So I'm not sure who the blog is referring to.

There not very specific are they? I'm sorry I'm just seeing alot of things I have seen in a lot of other companies in the past. I'm worried!

So what are they referencing with "tuning?" Like, chipping it? Marine parts? HP changes? I tried to see the blog, but I think it's for their contractors only? Usually I can pull up where the guys put their trucks up and such, but couldn't find it.

I think he was referring to bulletin board which is only on the contractor load board.
" the latest diesel fad. Depending on where you are from, it is known as rollin coal, blowin coal, rollin smoke or blowin smoke. It consists of large amounts of billowing black smoke being blown from the stacks of a diesel pickup or a big truck. While it may be cool to watch, there are seven reasons why Mercer trucks must not be involved in this"
I didn't read anything actually about not tuning your truck. Though I think they should've worded it little better since I know of no Mercer trucks that waste fuel like that.

I know several of us have alot of performace parts and modifcations on our trucks which helps us with fuel economy and power. I'm hoping they are restricting anything like that.
I'm sure I'll find out this month with my bi annaul inspection.

That's what I was thinking, I've read a lot about that kind of stuff and think it would be beneficial. It would suck if I couldn't do it eventually, but whatever works for them! I don't even know why people enjoy that rolling coal crap. People get too bored I guess.

Alot of O/O wants their truck to look cool. And they must think rolling coal looks cool.

Myself I prefer to the cool side to be inside the cab and under the hood pulling.

Looks aren't going to make you money. Eventually, it will be nice to have a nice truck, but production should comes first.

I think maybe they got caught in a time warp, I am like the rest of you, aint seen anyone rollin smoke in forever. I think its a non issue, perhaps since lenny got the elog issue out of the way, he is searching for a new thing and happened across a 1979 issue of overdrive magazine.

but all in all, I aint going anywhere, e-logs, rollin smoke ( that could go 2 ways, lol) or whatever. bottom line, I make money here, so they are stuck with me. I cherry pick loads loads now, if anything I will get more selective, lol.

    t bird Thanks this.
