I am new to the industry. I am in a truck governed at 62 MPH. Most cars easily pass me. What I am seeing on major interstates is that cars pass me easily going 70 or more but there are still Commercial trucks pulling loaded vans or flatbeds going the same speed as the cars while being 1 car length from them, right on their ### pushing them to go even faster so they finally get out of the trucks way. I see this a dozen times a day. My questions are" is this good trucking?" And" Does the general public have the right to drive the speed limit and not be pushed by a CMV? "
Also, if you as a professional driver do this, what is your reasoning that justifies this type of driving?

Probably the same drivers that complain when 4 wheelers are tailgating them
Skydivedavec Thanks this. -
It only takes 2 of those following too close tic. for a driver to get a few unpaid mo. of sitting at home.
Skydivedavec, SHO-TYME, Lepton1 and 2 others Thank this. -
That's is extremely dangerous and reckless behavior. A car can stop from 70 mph in about 150 feet, a big truck takes about 600 ft. If that car stops, the guy in the truck will kill everyone in there. Can you imagine living with that the rest of your life?
Skydivedavec, okiedokie, DocWatson and 2 others Thank this. -
I see this too and it enfuriates me. Totally unprofessional and extremely dangerous. When I do see it I take the opportunity to get on the radio and tell the idiot driver to back off before he kills someone.
A professional driver would never put people's lives in danger that way. Only an idiot with total disregard. -
Some truckers shock me at how close they tailgate other drivers.... It's really unsafe, not to mention rude
-
I see it all day. Most times will ask them wtf on the radio but most either ignore it or don't have a radio or either have it off.

"is this good trucking?"
That's a rhetorical question, right? -
hal380 and Skydivedavec Thank this.

Trucks speeding and tailgating has always been a problem since trucks were invented.
Those drivers are the cause of the big push for Elogs and mandatory speed governors.
Those drivers are the reason for the big billboards beside the freeway,"Have you been in a wreck involving a big truck? If so, call us, you may be entitled to millions of dollars."DocWatson, Skydivedavec, TruckerGonnaBe and 9 others Thank this.
