Well brother, you can have my share of the west bound runs. I've seen enough to last a year or so...maybe Crete was doing me a favor by not running me up there after all. With the issues with Poly's equipment, I need to stay closer to either home, or GP. That way if my assigned POS dies on the road, I can catch a Poly-ride to either home or to a loaner...

Oh no...we're gonna be out of a job soon if Mercedes has their way (at least there's hope for future Swift drivers)

BTW, this is Mercedes concept of the truck of the future, one that drives itself. If it's like most of the Daimler (Mercedes) class 8 electronic advancements...it'll be driving itself right off a cliff, or into a building and won't allow you to correct it in time.

You must do a road test as you near the end of your first 6 months.
Poly makes me nervous for some odd reason , I been safe for many years ( 8 ) ,
but this place makes me feel very heavy inside.
The money is ok, but I can't honestly say I enjoy this place
or feel at ease here .

I am on month 7 though. Wouldn't Tony do the road test? He called to ask about my license if it was still FL and if I still had address in FL. Then said I needed to meet with those other two before I left out on a load.

If it's Pat or Martin then there generally is a problem from
what Tony told me months back.
They are the authority there at PGP , Tony is just the overseer of the drivers.
Anyone off of probation can do the road test. Tony generally doesn't do them.
Tony and them look for everything from drivers physicals about to expire to logbook violations
and falsifications. They cannot hit you with points, the other two do that.
Poly investigates every incident to see if there is a safety related issue.
the place is a concentration camp as far as I can tell when it comes to safety.
I've heard to much from other drivers to believe otherwise.
They protect their assets like a guard dog protects a bone.

The NUMBER ONE thing to get points for is moving the truck before contact has been made with them back at Poly regarding the incident.
It's a sticky thing , they are nearly impossible to reach via phone
from my experience , so in theory you could be made late on a delivery
waiting on them to call you back , and that would get you in even more trouble.
One guy had a load of fuel stolen while he slept.
He went on and made the delivery on time , yet they still gave him points for
moving the truck before making contact.

Any CDL driver employed by Poly can do a ride test. The only CDL drivers behind the iron curtain are Tony and Pat. Jerry had been a driver, but I had heard he had blood sugar issues and couldn't retain his...even though he probably has more experience than the overwhelming majority of us. Tony was doing a ride test the other day, mainly because I was one of two drivers on sight and the other driver was due for theirs, but because I was on a continuation, I technically wasn't there and couldn't do one (and I am due for my yearly). And it is company policy, it isn't Martin, Pat or even Alan, it's the rules set up years ago. Even Tony has to do one once a year in order to be eligible to drive on those rare times when there is an overload of freight to cover and he is pressed into action. Not sure why that is the case, but like I said before, it is Poly's playground...if we want to play on it, we have to play their way or take our ball and go home.
