Safety is a word people in the office use to justify a decision. Would you consider leaving parts loose, or claiming that a trailer was DOT inspected when it wasn't and just putting a new inspection sticker on it? I would, but does the management here consider it a safety issue?...no, but because we drivers are more easily replaced than an ASE certified mechanic or a college educated manager...we are the scapegoats when something happens. If you catch a problem that was caused by negligence of a shop member, it's remedied quickly and quietly...if you don't catch it and leave the property, then it is on you the driver. Even though you have a piece of paper in your truck that states that the truck was inspected and cleared at the time of service completion, if you move the truck with issue, they call you out on it, and start preaching about safety...who preaches to the mechanics about safety when they forget the 'righty tighty' rhyme...no one I am willing to bet.
Glad I moved over to Poly Trucking

So.... how many points can we get and not get fired. Hmm I forget and don't carry the rule book around.
-
I believe 7 is the magic number for points

4 pts if it's during probation
every 2 years 2 points fall off ( so it takes either 3 or 4 years to clear 3 points off.
Poly is a harsh place for drivers who stumble.
They tend to want to hit a driver with points for anything and everything .
From procedure issues down to pre trips , there's a point violation lurking around ever
turn. -
It's interesting,
The techs must be ASE Certified Master Techs with a minimum of 10 years experience , the pay starts at $26 per hour and up. ( I'm reasonably sure that's per Flat Rate Hour )
I'm not sure , but I get the feeling " management ' at Poly are more or less just puppets.
They don't do anything but follow the book , and enforce the rules set by the ones above them.
Basically , they are on easy street, they just say Yes , tow the line , and collect a paycheck.
Must be nice.
As far as things left loose its rather sad.
Tony was pulling drivers out onto the lot and needed to witness them doing a pre trip some months back.Several drivers were upset and tried to voice that they can't fit under the trucks to check the drain plugs on the engine.
It was really backwards.
The shop mgr insisted drivers are over looking things if you can imagine that.
What a world. -
And I hate Google(almost as much as I hate Apple). I did a blind random search for local driving jobs in my area...not to apply per say, just to see what is out there...no info entered, no intention of applying...just curious...within 5 minutes I had been spammed with local job sights in my email's spam file... -
I came to the conclusion it was not a driver friendly company and took them off an already short list.
Pointing blame at others for someone elses mistakes DOES NOT sit well with me and I have no problem calling it out and making an issue of it, like SS said if I f' up I'll be the 1st to admit it (I'm not perfect),but don't try to throw me under the bus to save face because you wont man up to your mistakes..it won't end nice as I am quite vocal and confrontational when I need to be and have no problem being escorted off the property ( it has happened twice )
Always looking to move up the ladder but still haven't found it yet...I have been running the numbers in the O/O side of trucking the last year or so but at this point in my life the rewards don't justify the risk.I don't have a good feeling with the new trucks reliability and longevity with all the Carb laws and the other regulations looming down the pike for us drivers.
Good Luck Poly Drivers,
Keep your head high and ears to the pavementMev Thanks this. -
I finally got my truck back today. Sit in Houston International for a month. Another driver brought it back last night. I drove it today to check it out. Was fine. Went in the office to get my log book, came back out. Dead! Just like it was down in Houston. They didn't fix a thing. This is getting crazy!!

Do any of you guys remember the guy that left Poly and went to Landstar (?) , he got a really nice truck and split.
I was wondering how he is doing.
That kind of thing is inspirational to me , I'd love to go o/o and have it
work out.48Packard Thanks this. -
