Im planning on doing it the first quarter of next year. Need to see my family in CA more often...not so much about the money for me any longer as it is the flexibility. Parents are in their mid-70s, and I haven't lived close to them in some 30 years. Sister and her family and a very good friend of mine all live on I-10 between L.A. And Tucson.

    Mev Thanks this.

Well, I may be back using my s3 again soon...managed to break the tempered 'Gorilla Glass' on my Note 3...again. At least I didn't break the digitizer this time...the glass is a simple fix and only $20...at least it isn't an iPhone...mine doesn't warp in my pocket like the iPhone 6+.

I looked at the iPhone 6 yesterday and it is about the same size as my S3.The 6+ looks to be too big to use with one hand.

I had the s3 before this...when I have to go back to it, it feels like a toy...I want an even bigger phablet than the N3...Samsung has a feature on this phone called '1 hand operation'. You can make the keyboard and screens smaller, then move them around to where you can use it with either hand.

Note 4 is same size, just faster processor and higher res screen. I need a shatter proof screen...can't wait until Mr. Scott's transparent aluminum is invented (as in Star Trek, The Voyage Home)

1 point isn't bad. There have been drivers who have pointed out in their 1st year.

I haven't gotten on to read this thread in a day or two. Sounds like negativity is running wild here at Poly. My goodness, I'm not really sure where to begin on all these Posts. I guess I'll start by saying I'm disappointed with all the bad news coming from so many lately. I know this company is better than what I'm reading. It certainly sounds like a few of you have been experiencing some bad times. I can relate to many of the things I've been reading. I can say I have dealt with some of the same kind of stuff at times with my days here. I try not to over vent on it since it usually turns around for the good just as quickly as it gets bad on some things. I know we all deal with things in different ways so I won't go there on what I do. However, I will comment on a couple of things.

MeV, I enjoy reading your post and kind of believe you have been a little bit of a worry wart here at Poly. I respect your take on things and can only suggest you need to relax a little more here. Get a more positive outlook, continue to learn the system and then make it work for you. It's really not as bad as you make it sound. I certainly hope it gets better and I wish you better luck here for sure.

SSB, I also enjoy reading your posts. I really have been disappointed to hear how the shop and a couple of incidents have gotten you so down. I certainly believe you really feel let down by some folks here. I remember reading how happy you were about so many things here and then Boom. It all went south in an instant. Seems you haven't been able to bounce back like normal. Weird how it has had such a big effect on you. I really hope it turns around for the better for you. Now I can't just let you rag on Apple and not mention anything. We both know people prefer different things and I could debate many pros and cons about IBM based stuff. Apple stuff does me just fine...in fact, my Apple computer, IPad and IPhone freaking rock. Sorry brother...no chance I'll ever go back to IBM based stuff. Sorry to hear you broke part of your phone. I'm a firm believer in the Otter Box cases. They have saved my phones many times. No way I would ever go without one out here on the road. Anyways, hope things get better for you soon. Good Luck!

I will end with a few comments on a positive note here at Poly. I have completed another year here and things have really been going good for me. My truck has been really good to me and my loads have really been going well for the last few months. I've been running Awesome miles and getting home just great lately. I just spent a few days at home after completing some big miles out west. Load home was actually a continuation from a huge trip I just completed. I got a load outta Pol-Tex after just getting back from a NorthWest trip. Load is a plant transfer to Cottage Grove that I could run through my house. Anyways, I made it to Cottage Grove today and now I have a two stop mom and pop back out to the Northwest. Never a problem getting Backhauls outta the Northwest for me either. It should be another huge month for miles for me once again this month. Hopefully I'll get on here more and see some better news from some of you. Take care out there! :)

I use to be a believer in Otter Box as well. I had one on my Blackberry and it was almost indestructible. I have had one on both of the Notes I've broke, but I think because of the screen size and weight, there is only so much protection a little thin piece of plastic screen protector can do. As far as Apple vs. Android...I couldn't downgrade to Apple. The biggest improvements the iPhone 6's are things Android's have been doing for years. And with the way I use my phone, I would need 2 lines if I went to Apple... I also hate Windows, that's why I like Android, it's Linux based.

To be honest, this recent bout of NW runs has been the toughest time up there I've had since I've been here as far as freight. I never use to have issues either, but there seems to be a freight shortage in many areas we travel to, not just the NW...I heard drivers talking about waiting days for backhaul out of the SE, and Mev had some delays on the east coast as well. I'm not sure if it's the economy slowing or the increase in available trucks competing for the same freight from our core group of brokers that we use that is the cause...but the delays are kinda unsettling when they happen this early in the freight season.

Part of my disillusionment stems from this company's equipment and policy's as it pertains to paying for breakdown. The fact that with my MIL living with my wife and I, I now have more to lose if I get behind on my bills because the equipment, that they buy and assign, might repeatedly let me down, and they don't pay for breakdowns. In fact, I have still yet to see the reimbursement for one of the motel rooms from my July breakdown. (They paid hourly for the other because I didn't have the right receipt for it). I just don't want to be stranded for weeks 2500 miles from home, running up a credit card for a motel, and not being compensated while their junk is eventually being repaired at a dealership that is drastically overloaded with repairs from an inferior manufacturer like International. Sorry, International Prostar is the 'Yugo' of the trucking world...and since that is all Poly buys, I think they are setting themselves up for some major service failure issues...and some mass defections by their drivers if the trend of equipment problems continue. I know all truck makers and trucking companies have the equipment 'lemons'...but where the rest of the truck manufacturers have a 1 in 10-15 ratio of lemons, International is more like 1 in 4-5. With a fleet no larger than ours, there is no room for that large of a group of trucks to be down, especially with the way our shop fixes things and the delays caused by the way they handle parts orders...there were 0 loaners again the other day when I passed thru GP.

In regards to the negativity that permeates the Glad I moved to Poly thread.
Its definitely a bummer and and eye opener at the same time.
If you are a " go getter " or a driven kind of person in life,
it's easy to get your spirits brought down by
convincing yourself to accept what goes on at Poly in regards to the equipment.
Unfortunately one ends up flogging their own self
for what other people are doing( or in this case , not doing).
The mind can be a slave driver that's for sure.
Me,I try to ignore my reaction to it all if it flares up.
To keep it all in perspective if Poly were a full blown trucking company
and not a corporate write down they would have tanked during the first
    six months of operation.

Just stare into the sun ,
    and it all gets brighter,
    much much
    brighter.
