I just got my CDL-B in april and my first job the beginning of September. It was horrible.

I was delivering doors and hardware for a company based in Brooklyn, NY. I was driving a large diesel box truck. On my third day I broke the mirror of a bus in midtown Manhattan. I pulled over and reported it to the police and my employer and I offered to pwy for the mirror but nobody seemed upset.

A week later a strap that was holding 2 heavy doors already installed in the bucks came off as I got off the bridge for my first delivery It didnt break so the tightener must have just popped open. One of the doors was damaged and it damaged a door for another order. At the end of the day my boss was very upset and I sistent that there is no way the strap could have failed and It has never happened before. everyone who worked in the warehouse said it has happened before and it wasnt my fault.

The next day I had a delivery all the way up in Connecticut for my last stop and it was short one hinge. I was blamed for that. I dont load the trucks and I always checked my contents but I cant go through dozens and dozens of boxes to make sure every nut and bolt is in them.

A few days later in midtown another box truck breaks my mirror and continues driving so I reported a hit and run. 2 hours later an SUV comes to complete stop on the Deegan expressway. I slam on the breaks in time but a fully loaded semi rear ends me. The driver of the SUV looks out the window and takes off after seeing they caused an accident. The semi driver and me both report that it wasnt my fault but it takes 4 hours to get a police report.

At the end of the day I get fired.

Im worried now that I wont be able to get another job because I now have 3 accidents in less than 2 weeks on my driving record where previously I had never even had a fender bender in 12 years before getting my commercial license.

    Am I screwed?

The mirror was your fault, the other two you got rear-ended and that's never your fault, so they're not really yours.
    Any tickets?

I don't think you're terribly screwed, but hey, I know the feeling of being new and not knowing anything.
Driving a truck requires a whole new level of awareness, as you know.
Do you think you can do it safely?
I'd say it's up to you ... driving isn't for everyone, that's for sure.

No. No tickets. I am not putting them on my resume, it was only 2 1/2 weeks. Im worried about my driving record now having 3 incidents in 2 weeks that happened 2 weeks ago.

This was my first time driving that kind of truck. I was trained on a school bus. Only the bus mirror was my fault. The other 2 people hit me within 2 hours of eachother.

Yes I can do it safely but this was my first time driving outside of training and I havent even driven a car in 3 years. Havent been behind the wheel of a commercial vehicle since april so I was rusty. Otherwise im a great driver who never had an incident since I got my license at 18. I am now 30.

In training I was never taken in to heavy traffic except for a few minutes on the expressway. Nothing like Manhattan traffic. The mirror was just a stupid mistake I made because I looked at the GPS for a second but I wont make that mistake again.

Im just worried I wont find another job with these 3 things on my abstract now. I regret taking that job.

Are you sure? I want my driving and criminal record to stay completely clean. Ive never gotten any moving violation ticket in the 9 years that I drove my car daily. I take a lot of pride in that and never having been arrested even though I kept a lot of unsavory company. The reason that door company hired me is because everything was squeeky clean.

Get out of Brooklyn, NY Mate. Other than that, just remember to breathe and take your time. It helps.

Ive wanted to get out my entire life. Only thing keeping me here is my fiance but if I have any more bad luck in this cityi may have to just go with a stick and handkerchief.

Why specifically are you telling me to get out?
