No one else was involved but myself. I had metal bars coated in some kind of oil break through the bulkhead I made, thru the front door of the trailer and then come into the sleeper. They stopped 2 feet from me. The stretched wheelbase saved my life. If I was in the old truck it would of come out the front of the truck and I wouldn't be here. I was going 35 when a stop light changed. I got on the brakes just as I would of at any other red light. No panic stop like people will think. The cops said I was securely loaded and that this happens all the time. The insurance company approved the estimate today. I'm getting a new sleeper from Pete that must be made, so that's why it's going to take so long. The frame my be bent so it's getting checked this week after the sleeper is off. The clutch pedal is now out of adjustment so the shop thinks the cab may be tweaked as well. Won't know anything until the sleeper is off.
The sad part is that the truck only has 11k in it and I haven't even made payments yet. I'm still shocked at what happened. I can't believe it.

Wow, glad your ok. That's the thing about this industry. Thru no fault of our own, life can change so fast. Like I said glad your Ok.Lone Ranger 13, Battle Born and whoopNride Thank this. -
this is one reason when I see pics posted of things that happened with a flat I refrain from raking the driver over the coals, you never know what may have happened, equipment failure does happen. just realize the most important thing is you are ok and wasn't hurt.
you have your act together, you will overcome this. go to Louisville and become a coordinator for 4 months!!!! -

Just be glad you walked away from what could have been the end. There was a guy in Florida that recently wasn't so lucky.
I know it really must be painful to have that happen to such a new truck. But it can be fixed or replaced.
Best of luck to you in getting back on the road ASAP.

Kona, that is my biggest fear while flatbedding. I got a ticket in Hannibal, Missouri cause the light switched and I just went for it. I was past the point of no return when it turned yellow, and it was a quick light. I held on my horn and just went for it. Not the smartest, and I wasn't hauling bar, but I think a john Deere disc would do some significant damage to me as well, and I didn't feel like tempting fate. I'm glad you are okay, and your truck is repairable, luckily. Keep your head up and truck on!

Quick question ... any of you guys/gals plan on doing UPS this year?
DH and I are still tossing the idea around. I guess it all depends on what package we get offered. Last years sucked big time. We keep saying "We're not going to do it next year" but end up doing it anyway. Bleh. Such a P.I.T.A. sometimes. -
Every year I say the same thing and still fall into doing ups but not gona this year

the schedule is to wacko for me, and besides my truck is now solar powered, I took out the cat and installed solar panels all over it, getting 60 miles per hour of sunshine, but I shut down before dark.
whoopNride, Aussie Tom and BAYOU Thank this. -
Be kind of hard being the rates are up over last year but they could also increase
